So I've been having some troubles with my iPod's earbuds. Every time I play music or podcasts, there is awful buzzing sound in my right earbud. For music, it usually coincides with the beating of the base drum and guitar, which is really strange, but if I change the EQ settings to Spoken Word, it disappears. What's going on? Should I call Apple for a new pair?

Yep, just get a new pair. When it starts to get fuzzyish sounding and stuff, just get a new one. I need a new pair myself, mine are always breaking. D:

Skullcandy is the brand to go with. Best in ear headphones that you can buy for around $40. I bought a pair 2 years ago and they survived going through teh washer and dryer and the sound quality was still amazing. They broke a lil while ago though. Very sad day. Then I bought Asym earphones. They fit perfect under my motorcycle helmet. And the sound is amazing. It's got a 13mm driver instead of the usual 8.5. Which means the bass is outstanding. Man I can't rave about Skullcandy enough. I suggest them over anything in the same price range.

from experiance to me this sounds like distortion of the music file. You say it changes when you switch the Eq to "spoken word" i'm assuming this is a soft setting with low bass which would decrease the amount of noise being produced, meaning less distortion which is a little buzzing noise in the ear.
This is strange as ipods are supposidly designed to stop this, i would try a differant pair of earphones before buying new ones as unless there is obvious damage to the headphones it's most likely the player.

So I restored my iPod over the weekend and the earbuds seem to be working now. That's strange. I'm still going to be buying a new pair. I don't know why Apple has to put out shitty products like this.

I seem to dislike Apple earbuds that come with the ipod, so if I were you instead of getting another pair from apple, maybe invest in a better pair, that may last longer.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!!! Most awesome trick ever.
Hold the disfunctional earbud up to your mouth, and blow into it for ten seconds or so.
Put it back in, and PRESTO. Working earbuds for sometimes up to an hour.
Usually works for me, just a quick fix.
