Not really the approach I would take. But anyways..

I don't really know why churches say this, because somewhere in the bible states that "God loves everyone, and he'd give his own son for even sinners". I don't know exactly where, and by no means am I a religious person.

I'm sure a person that's more religious will help explain what I mean, or solve your problem. I know I'm on the right path, but can't explain because of my lack of knowledge in the religion area.

If you're born Gay, then you're Gay. There is no changing it. Be who you are and live your life how you want to.

Here's the thing:

There are, unquestionably, verses in the Bible that condemn homosexuality. And there are excuses and reasons for ignoring it and for not with whomever you talk to about it. My listing my defenses isn't what's going to really help you here.

What it has to come down to is God made you a certain way (in this case, gay), and seeing as he does nothing by mistake, you are as you should be. If homosexuality is truly a sin, then like any other sin it is forgiveable. Therefore, eternally speaking, so long as you've done whatever your religion requires of you for entry to heaven, you are fine, same as someone who thinks thoughts they shouldn't, or (to go to a real extreme example) the man who repents on Death Row.

If you take one verse as true in the Bible, you're meant to take the whole thing as truth, including the depth of God's forgiveness.

I am secure enough in saying that you and I both are fine by playing true to the way we were made.

I definatley agree with the guy above me. U are born the way you are and there's no getting around that u will be sad ur whole life if u live a lie to urself the biggest travesty would be for u not to embrace urself for who u r not who ur religion thinks u should be. God may be ur creator but nobody owns you but you and don't forget that I'm still feeling small ammouts of resentment for being born bi or gay or whatever. But I'm learning to love myself for who I am whatever the case may be I feel u should do the same bi str8 or gay u run the show bro. U sir r the man in charge of ur life and where it leads. U play ur cards right and u will have a front row seat in your heaven

I dont think that right... I mean homosexuals are never mentioned... I mean I guess if gay marriage becomes legal then gay sex should be fine...

I know the story of sodom and gamor(or however you spell it) but I think that has to do with unmarried people

the bible also states that no sin is greater than any other sin... so with that in mind... if being gay is a sin then its still just a sin...

the bible says that Jesus forgives ALL sins... so NO you are not going to hell

Now if gay guys go to hell then everyone goes to hell... people that cuss, cheat lie steal, eat to much... basically the bible says every1 sins and no sin is worse than the other

at least thats how I see it

Dude, switch religions! We Quakers allow gay marriage now!

Anyway - time for my patented "Heaven and Hell vs the Bible rant"

1) God is all loving and all forgiving
2) Jesus died to save us from our sins - therefore we have none
1+2 = no need for hell

3) hell is just to be without God's love right, well, i doubt many people nowadays have it anyway, unless God is all loving and forgiving, in which case there is nothing wrong with it.

4) There is a proven genetic cause for homosexuality, a certain gene that makes it more likely, so, if God created you, then God created you to be gay, therefore nothing is wrong with it.

Basically, christianity is stupid. Well, it's a nice idea, but so impractical!

What you fail to realize is that you don't have to completely believe with every idea your fraction of the church believes.
Homosexuality may or may not be a sin, I'm not quite sure. But, even if it is, so is everything ELSE. Those who may judge you have no right when they have their own sexuality goings on.
Personally, I don't believe in Hell. The rest of my church does, but I don't. I also believe that homosexuality is fine. I believe that God is more worried about the promiscuity than our sexual preferences.
Yet, one must remember that it is OUR PERSONAL BELIEFS that make us individuals.

God made you who you are. If who you are is what god hates, god just screwed up, didn't he? I'm not sure exactly where, but there is a verse in the bible that says that god loves ALL of his children equally. Be who you are, and don't let anyone, or anyTHING, stop you from being what you were meant to be!

John Marston

Hey no offence to you, but, im pretty sure your church is just trying to make everyone in the church perfect (though their perfect would be everyone loves each other and no-one hates anyone but if everyone loved each other that may result in homosexuality) in the early 1900's, when homosexuals were known as wrong, improper and they were hated by all (except other gays).

Listen you have nothing to worry about. If god is the one who creates everything and everyone, then why would he make you homosexual at birth ,on purpose, and then hate you because of the way he made it. It makes no sense at all. Ask your church leader that and they will probably deny it and contradict anything he/she has said. There is no logic in a church saying god hates you because you are homosexual.

Hope this helped :)

Well, that's Old Testament shit, man. If you believe homosexuality is bad, then you also need to believe shellfish is bad, because both are condemned in Leviticus. It's not so much 'god or your sexuality' as much as it is gay sex and red lobster or bigotry.

nick

I dont believe that for one moment. The point of Christianity is that it should be based around the teachings of Christ, not the Old Testament, and not that aweful homophobe St Paul. So you find anywhere where Christ condemns people in that way.

Anyway if it turns out to be true its going to be one heck of a party!

Being jewish is a different case than being Christian. You guys do use the Old Testament. The Old Testament does condemn homosexuality.

As long as you believe in God and ask for forgiveness, you won't go to Hell. But if you don't believe, then you will. I have to disagree with all the "God made you that way" comments. The case of sin, it doesn't mean that God wanted you to be like that, and it doesn't mean that God stuffed up, it is satan messing with God's world.

I believe that Christians should always be loving to people, the happenings at Westboro Baptist Church absolutely disgust me and I think it's horrible how people acting like that can be saying they are doing it for God.

As it says in the Bible, every sin is the same, no sin is greater than the other. If someone can be forgiven for lying or stealing then I see no reason why they can't be forgiven for homosexual sins.

You can go to heaven.

Well its not a sin is it. No way! I was reading a really interesting document on the internet, from a priest in America, about how homophobia is just madness!

i am not religious, but if you are, i ask this
If god is all loving, why would he disapprove of people loving the same sex?

I also read something, i can't find it now, but apparently, St Paul, wrote to a man saying, 'There is no man or woman, ( abit more of opposites such as races,) for in Jesus we are one.
Well if we are all one, and there are no men or women, then surely people of the same sex loving each other can't be a sin!?

Wow, talk about disrespect to ANYONE that believes in any form of God.

This is really debated in the church, and I wouldn't worry about it. If you're gay, be gay. You were probably born that way. Some religions in the Christian church are really harsh on it, some are really light on it. I'm not sure about other major religions. My point is, believe what you want to believe.

Besides, as Christians we should love everyone, friends and enemies alike.

Jean Poutine
October 3rd, 2009, 12:21 PM
The approach of the Catholic church is that homosexuality in and out of itself isn't a sin. However, having same sex sexual relations is one.

The distinction is that if you're gay, you're supposed to endure the temptations without falling prey to them to win your Heaven. Your religious community is supposed to help you endure the ordeal, but we all know that won't happen because Christians have trouble reading their own scripture.

*shrug* make of it what you want.

that homosexuals go to hell and i think i might be gay?

If you read your bible you will find the main theme is love. Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace . Why would any God who sent a son to die for our sins send one of his earthly children to the fires of hell. He said, "love one another just as I have loved you". The one thread they all condem gays to hell is from a man made Hebrew lawm the book of leviticus and they even included yu cannot eat shellfish nor get a haircut. If everybody who are shellfish and got a haircut went to hell, 90% of the population would be on their way. Find a church that is gay friendly. If yu want to know of a couple write to me

When did Jesus say he hated gay people? Oh that's right, never.

If they say they think they know who goes to hell and who doesn't than they aren't truly christian in the first place because christian scripture and dogma teaches that humans have no idea who gets into heaven and who goes to hell, and the bible says not to judge others, which they are clearly doing.

Which looks worse to god? Knowingly and willfully doing the exact opposite of what he said to do in terms of treating fellow humans, or acting the way he made you? Homosexuality is genetic and mental, not a disease like many uneducated idiots think.

According to the Old Testament, it is a sin and "abomination" to have sex with a member of the same gender. Morally, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay.

From my point of view, the religious side is less tolerant than the secular side, which is why I'm partially against religion.

Kahn
October 6th, 2009, 07:17 PM
Dumb. No reason should any religion shun a certain person, a race, or a gender. Which some do. None of these are right and don't listen to some of the Church's teachings. They can be wrong sometimes and some of the Bibles teachings are ancient and some are just opinions of the writers.

Christians believe lust is a sin and that we're all sinners who can't help it. From a christian standpoint, you could still masturbate and repent it and get away with that.

Don't quote me though, I'm just a smartass pagan.

This kind of retarded shit is the exact reason I ran from Christianity screaming. I wish more people would see just how outdated and ruined it is.

Also, I will point out that the word 'religion' is not synonymous with the word 'Christianity'. I see many people saying they are against 'religion', when they aren't actually against all religions, but are actually against Christianity. I have to note that not all religions share this sort of garbage dogma. For instance, Wicca supports homosexuality explicitly, and with open arms. Nature is nature.

That was the view of people like that back then. Times have changed and people in some places are much more accepting of LGBT people and I don't think you should let a book tell you what to do. Get remember, you are who you are and you can't change it. Just be happy and live your life! :)

If you are Christian, isn't it said that "God made all of his children equal and loves them all equally"? You must remember that your church is a simple messenger of God, and sometimes those messages are misunderstood and translated. Some priests even lie to others because of their personal beliefs. You must also remember that those who created the bible may have also mistranslated the words of God. Trust and note only the true words of God, and not his messengers for some are unloyal to god by conveying false messages. Remember that God loves you for who you are.

(I must note that I am athiest and do not fully understand the Christian religion, but I do know that God says that he loves all of his children, according to the Christians I know.)

Anyways, be proud of who you are! There is no point in lying to yourself. I don't think that there is really anything you can do either. You can lie about it and think that you are straight, but you are just lying to yourself... and no point in lying to yourself because you know the truth and will know that it is a lie. Even if you do go to hell, you should be proud of who you are in this life and live it to the fullest (making no note of the fact that you are gay). If you do go to hell, make this life AMAZING so that you will not live a miserable life and afterlife. I mean... I would want to live at least one happy life... BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE AND LET NO ONE GET YOU DOWN FOR IT!!!

I am just typing out all of my thoughts and hella tired, so i might not make any sense... so if you have a questions or are confused by what i say, feel free to ask because i am hella tired and rambling all of my thoughts... sorry...

Anyways, I hope this helps... at least a little.

I would say switch churches.
I will admit that in the bible it says being gay is a sin, and the wages for one sin is death. But later in the bible Jesus said "Let all of earth's children come unto me." It's also said when you take Jesus into your heart you are washed clean in the blood of Jesus Christ.
Being gay you have the same chance of going to hell as everyone else.
Churches like to control people, and when they find out you can't be controlled they try and fuck with your head. Trust me, I speak from experience.

can i just start by saying im a christian, so no insult is intended by this.
i find that some churches are really hypocritical, not mine which is why i go to it.
they say stuff like god created you in his image and he loves you the way you are etc etc.
but as soon as they come on to the topic of homosexuality they immediately start say your an abomination and a plight on god etc.
so as long as you believe in god and you feel youre going to heaven youll be fine

The thing is, I'm catholic but i dont agreee with a lot of the things in the bible, mainly in the old testament. I mean when you think about it, its not like we have gods voice recorded on a tape. Also another point, people dont just wake up in the morning and sya "hey think ill be gay today" it doesnt work like that, i mean pretty much every gay is born with it, so if we were created in the image of God then he made us like this. Ive heard a minister (non-catholic) say that people forget that gay people are born with it so they consider it a gift.
