Trust me to make this topic. :P

I'm just wondering what other people put on their popcorn as far as seasonings or toppings go?

Most of the time these days I just put butter, salt, and parmesan cheese (the latter quite liberally) on whenever I make popcorn. I do, sometimes, put some spicy... spice... from our spice cabinet on (I can't really remember if it's cayenne pepper or what), and we sometimes get prepared seasonings for popcorn, some of which include salt and vinegar, cheddar cheese, sour cream and onion, etc. Those are quite good.

And if you make popcorn from a bag in the microwave... I'd suggest you change your ways because the stuff coating the bag is a carcinogen, and I bet whatever 'butter flavored' stuff is in there is pretty packed with chemicals.

If you get a hot air popper and kernels, it's a looooooooooot cheaper (Seriously, $5.00 for a bag that's equivalent to at least 50+ bags of microwave popcorn) as well, tastes fresher, and you get more room to experiment with toppings and stuff.

That's all I have to say about popcorn. :D Hoping to hear some creative topping ideas because I love experimenting.

Here's how I do it:

1) put butter and brown sugar in saucepan - add LOTS of heat
2) put way too many kernals in the machine - turn it on with a BIG bowl underneath
3) add golden syrup and a splash of milk to butter and sugar - heat until sugar boils
4) run around screaming while being bombarded by flying hot popcorn - try to catch as much as possible
5) separate the popped from the un-popped kernals
6) pour the melted sugary mess (toffee) all over bowl of popcorn
7) taste test - burn mouth on molten sugar
8) get mobbed by family for fresh toffee popcorn
9) MAKE MORE

I'll add the occasional dashing of salt, but usually I'll take it with extra butter. Orville Redenbacher FTW.

If I could, I would probably find the BIGGEST pot that I could find and then fill it with as many kernels as I could and the corresponding amount of oil, and once it was all popped and I had collected all of the runaway popped corns, I would then proceed to add about 5 sticks of butter and a whole lot of salt, and after realizing how much popcorn I had actually made and after the spazz attack caused by this realization, I would proceed to make a fortune selling it by the side of a road, while evading cops who are trying to arrest me for not having a health inspection certificate. (Why do they keep bugging me? Only about half of the popcorn fell on the kitchen floor which my dog licked clean a week ago!)

I like my popcorn with LOTS of butter and salt!

If I have it, powdered cheddar cheese is amazing on popcorn.
