Remember that it is most often not the speed of the router which defines how fast your internet goes, but the speed of the actual internet connection connecting to your house. The router is always limited to that.

I just have a basic wifi router that Telus gave us with our connection, and I have yet to have any real issues with it. I'd recommend just getting one that people have reviewed well, try looking around a bit.

Routers have nothing to do with the speed of your internet. it is the connection that comes into your house that matters.

I have a Linksys WRT160N. Its a great router, I have my laptop, a desktop, my PS3, PSP, and my Dad's laptops, and it never misses a beat. Got it for $100 I think about a year ago. Should be cheaper now.

ya ik it has to do with your actual internet speed but does anyone know any good routers that have high speed local sharing and what ever like my current router slows down my internet lol its pretty old

Like I said, the Linksys WRT160N is very good.

This is the one I have and it is really good it comes with a set up disk and a router and all you do is unplug the old and plug in the new and install the software

Hey guys I'm not really tech-savvy (does anyone actually use that word lol?) JUST wondering where you'd get a wifi router, I'm getting an iphone and stuff soon so... from a tech store or from like a computer shop?

I buy everything at Best Buy. The people there actually know what they are talking about, usually.

Apple Airport Extreme. It's well, Extreme. Extreme speed, easy setup, tons of features, compatible with mac/pc/linux and it looks great. Bit expensive, though.

Well I agree that it does depend on your internet connection to figure out how fast your router will be. I have a Linksys WRT54G which looks like this: http://uploads.neowin.net/forum/post-2250-1238359496.png I mean it's pretty good I guess. I got it about a year ago just for my laptop and my Video Game Connections for about $50. Although it has failed in the past for me. It's not the best but I'm sure if you want something simple you should try it.
