Vampires or something that isn't as sissy as Twilight would be great.

As far as vampire stories go, I wholly recommend Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Specifically the first three: Interview With The Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and The Queen of The Damned. The fourth one, Tale of The Body Thief, is also fantastic, but from that point on the stories seem less connected than they were originally. The first three are more of a trilogy and easily stand out from the rest.

I'd also recommend Salem's Lot, by Stephen King..... and I'll speak up if I think of any others. :)

As far as books in general go, I'd recommend anything Stephen King. I can list off some which I feel are particularly fantastic, or you can just pick a title that jumps out at you, all are pretty much great. Also, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising. Silence of the Lambs is almost exactly like the movie, nearly word for word, only better. Hannibal is different though, and I haven't seen Hannibal Rising to compare that one.
