Should I go to this?

I should start by saying I'm not sure if this is the right place but I'm sorry if it's not. I am a freshmen at an all guys high school, and we have our first mixer coming up with the all girls schools. During middle school I never went to any because it was mostly bad music and all the "popular" (dicks) kids grinding/ air humping everything around them. I am curious to meet some girls as I don't really know many besides those I went to school with. I am a bit cautious about going as I don't want to pay 10 dollars to get in just to have a bad time. None of my closer friends are going, but I am interested in meeting people. Should i bother to go, or does it sound like I would just have a bad time?

of course you should go. you have nothing to lose (except $10) and everything to gain. you can't put a price on meeting new people and forming friendships with them. you won't help your cause to meet girls and new people by not going just because you are afraid you might not have a good time. if i were you i wouldn't even be thinking about not going and start thinking about the new people you could meet by going.
