Always look at the box where it shows three shades on the side, depending on the color your hair is, to see a general idea of how it should turn out. That's a good tip for getting the right shade. Revlon has tended to work well for me in the past when buying my color in a box. I've never gone blonde, but I assume that all shades are created more or less equal. Given that her hair is now blonde already, I'd definitely look at the swatches on the box and maybe pick something a shade or two darker than she wanted. So a dark ash blonde, versus a light blonde, might get closer to the result she wants. Worst case scenario, she might just either have to live with something not perfect, or get it colored professionally.

If she's going to mess with the color a lot to try and get the right shade, she should at least wait a few days or a week between colorings to avoid killing her hair. Use the good conditioner that comes in the box, may as well not waste it, and invest in a conditioner for everyday use that's specifically for damaged and/or color-treated hair if she doesn't already use one. Shampoo first thing in the shower, apply conditioner, and leave it in; don't wash it out until the very end, give it time to soak in. Her hair will thank her and the color will look better because the re-dyeing process won't stress her hair as much. :)

Well the same thing happened to me when I dyed my dark brown hair blonde this past spring. What she will have to do is dye her hair again to get the desired color now that it won't be so dramatic of a color change.
