you cant cut yourself "right". if you think that he is hurting himself very badly then you should intervene.

There is no right way to self harm, as it is all self destructing, which as most members of this forum will understand is definitely not "right".
LIke the above says if you think they are dangerously hurting themselves then you should intervene and try and get them to stop. If by "No doing it write" you mean that they aren't cleaning the cuts and covering them etc.etc. then you should advise them to do so, so that cuts dont get infected.
