So, we sometimes have small tests in school that test if you have read your homework good. They are just small, not big but they do affect your total grade.

So, Im on 7th grade(you go to 7th grade in finland when you are 13, so dont think I am underage). On sixth grade we were usually told before if there is going to be a test like this, but things kinda change when you start 7th grade. So, I had a test like that today on history and I didnt read, just did the exercises that were required to do, so I knew almost nothing on that test. The maximum points was 10 and I think I got like 3 or 4 out of 10(we get the tests tomorrow). Its a shock for me, because I normally get damn good scores on tests and Im not used to getting bad scores. It was simply my mistake and I didnt know that the test was coming. If I would have read, I would have scored a lot higher.

Do you think it will affect my history grade on my grade report, if I just do well in other tests? My history grade has always been 9(on a 4 to 10 scale) I certainly hope not. Im also scared of how my parents will react. The scores of those small tests will be shown on the big test that must be showed for your parents. I think they will be mad as hell, but not as mad if I get a good grade on other tests.

Well, like you said, you always get good scores. I'm sure your parents won't mind. Everyone is bound to make a low score.

One 10-point test won't affect your grade much at all. I'm guessing that since you're in 7th grade, there's also a lot of homework and other tests/quizzes/projects that go into your grade, right? Missing 7 points won't hurt you in the long run. :)

Figure out what messed you up this time. Did you not study well enough, or not study at all? If you're one of those kids who tend to get good grades with minimal studying, I can see why this is a shock to you. School gets harder as you get farther along, and you're getting to the point where studying is going to be a huge help for most of your classes. Even if you're doing well without it in some subjects, it's good practice. Take notes in class if the teacher lectures, actually read the chapter in your textbook, make flashcards for important terms, names, and dates which are likely to be on a test and be sure to review them the night before. Just the act of writing that stuff down will help you to remember it.

it shouldnt affect your grades at all, but maybe you should start studying more often and listen in class.

Seeing as how it's not worth much to your overall grade I wouldn't dwell on it. If you show it to your parents, then you can explain to them why you didn't do well on it and explain that in the grand scheme of things, it's not worth a lot. Since you claim to usually get higher grades, I'd simply view this as a little slip and hopefully your future grades will more than compensate.

Well, getting a 3 or 4 out of ten won't make a big difference if you already have had a lot of points in the semster. I've done things like that before and it hasn't made much difference.

Well, like you said, you always get good scores. I'm sure your parents won't mind. Everyone is bound to make a low score.

Beg to differ lol :P I got one bad grade in Biology Accelerated this year so my mom thought it would be good to take my laptop and iPod Touch. Haven't had it for nearly 2 weeks. Also can't play any video games. I feel they overreacted....again. Anyway, I'm not trying to argue, just saying it.

Any parent should understand that we go through a lot of things as a teenager and that one low grade on a test isn't that big of a deal. Just don't make a habit of it and you should be good.

You are in 7th grade, so unless your planning on going to private school, your grades honestly don't matter, as long as there passing. I say just do the work, and don't let one grade bother you
