I think that since your friend trusted you that you can trust him with this issue. It is not like masturbating is a big thing, and most boys your age do it but they just won't admit it. Even if it does come out, which it won't, then who are folks to judge you?

The only thing about which I would caution you is to be extremely careful about doing anything more than talking about masturbating with your friend. Sometimes friends let hormones overtake their better judgment and they might find themselves masturbating together or more in a moment of passion. Just remember that sometimes sexuality can complicate relationships and to ensure that things don't go too far as things can get awkward if you two actually become physically sexual.

However, just talking about sex and talking about puberty is no problem as we all need help when it comes to that. Puberty is a really confusing time, and sometimes talking to someone your age can help especially if you do not feel comfortable talking with a parent or family member. Just make sure your facts are straight when dealing with puberty and always talk to a parent or an older sibling if you have doubts about puberty.

If I were in your position, which I was at one point in time, I would just go out and tell them. I am a really open and honest person, and since everyone really does it (although most do not admit at such a young age), it is not really a shocker when others find out. It is a natural part of life and there should be no problems with admitting it. If someone does give you troubles, simply say that everyone does it and that it is a natural part of life. There is no reason for anyone to give you anything about it unless they are insecure about themselves. Anyways, considering the situation and how your friend respects and trusts you, you can most likely trust him so I would just tell him. That is just my thoughts on it though. Hope it helps.

I would tell him - I know what you mean, at my school harly anyone actually talks about sex/masturbation (not counting jokes).

I have a small handful of friends I can talk freely with though, and It's a lot better.
