Okay guys, I've been looking for some sort of solution to allow me to have "unnaturally coloured" hair. Ok so its green but so what, i will abide by the schools dress code on uniform because it's the schools uniform but i wont let them tell me what i can or can not do with my personal body i.e MY HAIR. I'm looking for something in students rights (in england) etc etc but i don't exactly know what i'm looking for. I spose i'm just looking for something which says something along the lines of 'students should be allowed to express themselves how they want', you get the picture. Well, i hope so anyway please help me please, i can't stand this it's not right. They shouldn't be allowed to do it. PlEaSe HeLp Me ! ! !

Thankkssss

The problem with your plan is that the school is not actually violating your rights. They are perfectly allowed to keep you from having green hair, it's part of the dress code. Many schools have rules about that exact thing, your school is not just being excessively harsh. (If it's a private school then in my mind there's even less you can do since you are choosing to go there versus a public school.) There's pretty much nothing you can do to protest this that will actually work, I'm sorry to say. During the summers however, you can do whatever your parents will allow you to do with your hair. Just dye it back for the school year :)

Unfortunately, you're fighting a losing battle. When you become a student to whatever school, college, university or trade-school or any other educational institution, part of that process of you being admitted involves you acknowledging that you'll adhere to their policies.

The problem is, even if you do find something saying people can express themselves however they wish, you'll also find things regarding limitations or policies. So while you may find something saying you can freely express yourself, it will also be within the confines of certain limitations. While these laws do still apply, even in school, the problem that you'll then face is that the school isn't preventing you from doing anything (neither are the laws for that matter). The policies and laws are merely a consequence saying that if you do some activity, you'll get a certain punishment. So you're allowed to express yourself however you want but bare in mind that you have certain limitations and if you break these limitations, then you get some consequence.

In other words, the policies don't violate your self-expression, you can still have green hair, however, having green hair comes with a price of baring the consequences of violating the imposed limitations that you stated you would adhere to.
