To cut a long story short i have a lot of scars on my body.
And fresh cuts appear on my arms every so often.

I will not let myself be upset if someone notices my scars, and when they are just scars they do not phase me in any way.
So a few days ago, it was a beautifully sunny day, and I wore a short-sleeved top to college.
I got a few looks, but because i only have scars on my arms i didn't care.

However now i have new cuts on my arms and i don't know what to do!
I thought "duh, just go back to wearing long sleeves" but i don't want to be ashamed, self harm is part of who i am and if people can't accept that it's their problem.

but i always feel kind of dirty and shameful if i show new cuts.

What do you guys think??
What did you do in a situation like this?

Thank you :)

I think you should have them on show, if people give you negative responses you might be more likely to stop.

I think it's great that you haven't been embarrased about the scars on your arms. A hell of a lot of people are embarrased about it, including myself. You seem like a really strong person, it didn't let it get to you before, so don't let it now. People don't know why you have done it, therefore it's nothing to do with them, also if you have the confidence now to have your scars on show then just think when you fully stop, your going to have scars but you won't be afraid to show them, you'll be able to show people what you have overcame which I think is great.

About the new cuts, it's understandable that you don't want these on show, but you said it yourself, it's a part of you and if people can't accept that, thats their problem, you really shouldn't feel dirty because of new cuts, it's only going to get you down more. Now depending on the severity of your cuts I would say so long as they aren't really huge and deep then try your best to stay positive leave them on show, so long as you feel comfortable with them out. However if they are really horrible and deep you might want to keep them covered, not only because you don't like them on show, but also to prevent them from any infection.

All the best <3

If you had asked me this a couple years ago, I would have told you to wear sleeves.

I wore sleeves with scars, new cuts, everything. I live in Florida and lived in sleeves.
Now, there are scars, and I'm in short sleeves and I'm okay. There are times when I get questions, there are times that I get dirty looks. But theres nothing I can do, so I don't worry. I can't change the past and I cant change who I was.
It's shaped who I am today.

Sorry, I'm not much help. :|
