A man who was filmed on a mobile phone forcing a cat to inhale cannabis before swinging it round his head like a lasso was banned from keeping animals for 10 years today.

Jobless Mark Kane, 20, was handed a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for two years, for his "appalling" cruelty by South Tyneside Magistrates.

What a dickhead.

I remember this lady would put vids of her 3 year old son smoking on Youtube.
They called CPS on her.
It turns out, he was addicted. Because she thought it would be funny. Thank god they took him away from her.

Fair sentence, its a clear case of animal abuse forcing it to smoke weed.

Lol Cody I've seen people blow pot in front of animals to get them high. It's stupid and cruel.

Asshole. What the hell is wrong with people? How can you harm a domestic animal? My dog has burn marks on his back, obviously abuse, and it disgusts me that people can do things like that to animals.

He should be banned from owning animals for the rest of his life, and get a very long sentence to jail.

Not only do I think the act is rather stupid and somewhat cruel, I think it's even stupider to record the event on your phone or on something else. If you're going to commit a crime, then why would you purposely make evidence that incriminates yourself and then be so stunned when you get slapped with a sentence? Might as well just save the time and effort, and do the act right infront of the cops.

I do find the sentence to be more or less a slap on the wrists, yet if this were done to an infant, he'd probably get a much larger sentence.

That is just... mean.
Poor creature.
And I agree on the level of stupidity portrayed by the offender by recording it. But at least he was caught.
Now let's go save some pitbull puppies!!!!!

You'd be surprised how often this happens.
I've heard of a lot of people making their animals inhale cannabis.

what a bastard. it should be 10 years in jail, not 10 years from keeping an animal.

My grandmother works in the CASPCA
And they do get these sorts of calls on occasion. But they more often get fighting dogs that have to be put to sleep.
This whole thing saddens me. How can people do stuff to these poor creatures?

What an ass.
Why anyone would do this to an animal is beyond me, not to mention RECORDING the damned thing. And I agree with Inferno. That scentence is light.
