Every time I wake up, the back of my hair is majorly tangled up. It looks horrible, as if I haven't washed it. I have to comb it and pull on it to get it untangled, which HURTS a lot. I put a lot of work into this mop I call hair, and I try to look good daily. But having a rats nest in my head is not very good looking.

What do I do to stop the tangles?

De-Tangling conditioner.

You aren't going to like this, Matt, but the simple solution is to GET A HAIRCUT!

That is all :P

Exactly.

We're not saying chop it off.
Just get a trim, or ask them to give you some kind of thinning treatment.

try a leave in conditioner and a detangler.
and brush it before you go to bed
i recommend (if you live in the US)
Garnier Fructis Leave in Conditioner
(available at wal-mart or any drugstore)
and just any detangler should due

My hair is at the exact length I want it to be right now. :(

If you get it trimmed, it will look better and be healthier. It WILL grow back. And it would probably help this problem.

But, if you aren't going for the haircut idea, take a shower when you wake up? Or use detangling spray or something.

I use to have this problem before my mom made me get a haircut yesterday. :P

It can also help to put your hair up in a ponytail or something before bed. Yours may be too short to stay there all night or to quite get all of it pulled back, but you can try it.

Also, when you comb your hair, make sure you start with the tangles at the bottom, don't just start at your roots and try to force the comb downward. Really makes a difference.

Mmm, I think that's what I'm doing wrong. Thanks Jessi. :)

Whatever you do, don't get it cut! It's too purtyful

I'd say shower and condition in the morning after you wake up

You could sleep in braids. Then it wont tangle, and it will look pretty when you take them out :D

Fuck HAIRCUTS! Get conditioner, that's what I do (not as long as yours probably but it works for me)

OK, so I switched conditioners and it worked way better than the last one!
