Right ok, since last year I have lost over 3 stone in weight through a change of diet/lifestyle, without doing much exercise. I have recently plateaued at my new weight (about 13 stone) and I've promised i'm going to do the house runs at school this year.

Although I run quite a bit as part of my saturday job (volunteering at a disabled riding centre) I am still quite unfit, and have started going out jogging in the evening in an effort to counteract this.

I did half an hour of jogging tonight and to start with I had a pain and a tight feeling in the right side of my chest, which then spread up over my shoulder and across my shoulder blade.

Is this anything serious, or is it just a result of being unfit?

Probably just cause you're still a bit out of shape. don't go as fast. you can't expect to be abble to go running when you never have before and not have it as a shock

overcome.

I'd say get into it gradually, I know when you're keen and have a new found motivation you want to get into it right away. I've gotten back into bodybuilding the past few days after a few weeks off, and I'm aching like hell from two good workouts and have had to have two days off.

Just take it easy, do little bits and build it up. If you'd like any info specifically about anything revolving around training/diet, you could always PM me or ask questions in this thread. I'll do my best to help.

i wouldn't have said it was a result of unfittness i would've thought it more as a stitch because i've had stiches while running that have spread like that. But it's important not to push yourself to far as your only doing yourself damage. If you think it may be because you arn't as fit then build it up as you go. can't expect to be able to run a marathon without training now can you
