Ok, so I've been a member for about six months but I still have one question.
Is it against the rules to use the Virtual Teen forum to find a boyfriend/girlfriend or is this something that the mods don't really care about? I don't recall seing it in the rules but I wanted to know cause I have seen it on a couple occasions and it would seem like if it was ok then there would be a lot of people getting together.
Thanks for the help
P.S. I wasn't really sure where this should be posted so I figured general discussions was a good place to start. Feel free to move it if neccessary.

..... It depends.
There is nothing to stop you forming a relationship with another user on this site, but really it shouldn't be your reason for using it.
This is a self-help discussion forum for teens, not a dating website.

There's no rules against it, but this site isn't supposed to be for dating purposes
So that means don't post ASL in r&d and not expect to have your thread locked/deleted/infracted

Pretty much a perfect answer.
If you open a thread that looks like its purpose is to find a date it will almost certainly get reported and locked. But just by being here, posting enough and reading other peoples posts lots of people strike up deep friendships, and some believe they find love.

Yeah if you want to find a date i suggest sites like eHarmony or something. This is a teen help and support site not a dating-site. However, that doesnt mean there arent couples on here or that you wont find someone you like.

its a help site, not dating. if you fall in love with someone from this site and they love you, who is going to stop is happening?
but a thread made to ask someone on the site out will probably get locked.

This isn't a dating site. Chances are that people on here will live a long way away from you anyway. But nobody is stopping you from making friends, and relationships if you wish. Just be careful if you ever do decide to meet someone.

Be careful when it comes to long distance relationships.
A relationship formed online is a lot more bent on emotion than the physical aspects of a "normal" relationship, which means that if the relationship doesn't work out, you'll be more emotionally hurt than in a "normal relationship."
But still, the aim of this site is not to find a boyfriend or a girlfriend. This is a site aimed at helping teens and at giving them a refuge or a haven to escape from the outside world. It's also just a fun place to be sometimes.
But again, this site's goal is not to "hook" teenagers up. I found a girl on here, but it wasn't because I met her on here that I fell for her. I started IMing her and things went from there. Texting, phone calls, etc.
Just be sure that you know that who you're falling for is who they truly claim to be, and if you ever choose to visit them or have them visit you, don't do it alone. Be careful when meeting someone that you've met online. (That doesn't mean don't do it, I plan on doing this several times in the future, I just don't plan on being by myself when I go [in most instances, there are some people on here who I know are who they claim to be, but that's only because I've really gotten to know them over an elongated period of time]). 0.o

Not a dating site, but nothings stopping you, just don't make a thread being like "Who wants to go out with me?"
