I thought it was pretty good. It started off slow, but got really fast-paced and interesting from the half-way point. It had a believable plot as well - not like the usual alien films. The commander guy of the 1st Battalion was a jerk though - "I love watching you Prawns die" Does he have no soul at all? Piece of scum.

Lol...agreed that it started off slow. It was like a documentary film and was not interesting at all but then they cut the "cameraman" bull and actually made it like a movie and not like it was being filmed through a camcorder

It was a very interesting movie, probably the best alien and human movie I've seen yet. I think part of what made it so interesting was in how it appeared to have been filmed. My friends and I were a bit late as we missed the first 5-8 minutes of the movie or so, so the part that always boggled me was how the humans knew what the aliens were saying and how the aliens knew what the humans were saying and could read English. But other than that, it was great.
I think it was a movie where I was probably not very fond of the ads for it, which is unusual because the ads tend to be quite good for most movies. I found that the ads made me think it was going to be a completely different movie than what it really was.

Depends on your taste in movies. You may like it or you may not but in the end, it's comparable to me telling you how lasagna tastes when you've never tasted lasagna or anything like it. Either buy it on DVD, wait for it to be on TV or the Movie Network or go and watch it in theatres.

See, I'm different, I preferred the beginning.
It makes it feel real. And believable.
Overall.
It gets an "Okay" from me.

The ending left me wondering if there's going to be a sequel.
But the movie was pretty good.
On a scale of 10 I'd give it a 7.5.

I really liked it...kind of a commentary on human oppression. It wasn't that long ago that blacks in south Africa were living under the same, if not worse, conditions that the aliens were subjected to. A lot of people have forgotten about apartheid and how recent it was.

it was good, different than most alien movies, actually had some thought behind it, not HOW MUCH GORE AND GUNS AND EXPLOSIONS CAN WE PACK INTO THIS type thing.

is it worth going to see in the cinema?
I realise you asked this a while ago... but still. It's worth getting on DVD, or downloading or watching on the net. Not worth going to the cinema for. EDIT: Wtf am I talking about, it's not even at the cinemas anymore...
that movie was the shit
At least give a reason as to why you think this?

It was very different from many other alien/human movies. It had a great plot and storyline. I absolutely hated Koobus. He was such a prick and I laughed so hard when his head got ripped off. Judging by the ending, I hope to see a sequel, but that would probably ruin it. One thing I hated was how the humans could understand what the aliens were saying and vice versa. It didn't make any sense on WHY they did that.
I didn't find many infulence from Peter Jackson in this one. Unlike his remake of "King Kong", which he made uniquely his own, I couldn't find anything in District 9 that could really say that this was a PJ film. But it was good none the less and I'm glad I watched it. Definately a must see for anyone. I'd give it a 9.5/10

Hmm not so sure about people forgetting about Apartheid, we are still in one just a role reverse. The ANC seem to have no intention of reconcilliation :(
