well if she's acting like that she obviously isn't the best friend ever... but i think instead of just excessive apologizing, you should be blunt and call her out. maybe be like "why are you acting like this", like let her know how cold she's being. cuz i dunno it seems kinda shady that this girl is going so extreme over something pretty little

If you ask nicely and try to talk it out and she still hasn't come around, I hardly think she counts as the 'best friend you could ask for'. The thought of not having someone special, a best friend, is horrifying (to me anyway), but ultimately she will only cause more pain.

It's mere a choice of the lesser of two evils. Either try to be her 'friend' and endure her rather catty, possibly degrading, behavior, or cut your losses and be alone for a time.

Making new friends is hard, I understand, especially when you feel so . . . out of it. But please, really consider whether or not this girl really cares about you before you spend more of your precious emotion on her.
