Do not upset U.S. teenager Calvino Inman too much - or he may see red. Doctors have been left baffled by the 15-year-old Tennessee teenager, who cries tears of blood.

They come three times a day, often without warning, and can last for up to an hour - leading some classmates to fear he is possessed.

Cool, but does he cry tears too? Lucky he doesn't live in Louisiana, he'd be dead by now.

That's weird i didn't think that could even happen. I don't see why anyone would want to cry blood, it might be cool at first but then it would suck.

It would be horrible, i mean like it would be neat for Halloween but you have to deal with that every other day which is horrible.

I'm sure he does. It seems he doesn't literally cry tears of blood, they just look like tears because they drip out of his eyes like tears would. After-all, I'm sure he's not so easily upset about things that literally he cries three times a day and then finds that they come out bloody by coincidence. He eyes are just leaking blood, either from his tear ducts or somewhere else in the vicinity. How bizarre. At least he's not leaking enough to need transfusions or anything.

leading some classmates to fear he is possessed.

If only such a line was 'leading some classmates to be interested in a rare biological phenomenon explainable by science which makes infinitely more sense than supernatural bullshit', then I would have hope for the world.

I'm not sure what makes this seem so confusing as there are documented cases of this in the past, and National Geography showed a 13-year old girl who had this same thing. There are several disorders I know of that can cause this and a very likely one would be haemolacria, which is where the person "cries" and their tears contain enough blood to look as though they're bleeding out of their eyes. It can occur if the person is stressed or for no real reason, although I'd say the kid has a pretty bad case of haemolacria, if it is that. Usually though, haemolacria means that there's some other underlying causes in the body and those causes can be anything from a virus, bacteria, tumour, genetic disorder, etc... .

This is it^

I have glaucoma, meaning the fluid in my eyes dosen't drain properly and unless I take my meds, my eye pressure will get very high and possibly require surgery. I also may lose peripherial vision as I get older. So I have lots of experience with eyes.
