View Full Version : Peace & Love - Two of my desires

I believe that other than health, and other things like family/friends and money to a degree - that peace and love is very important. Love is something you cannot buy, neither is peace really. Two things I really wish for in this life are peace and love.
Peace - being at peace with yourself, being calm, relaxed, happy. Peace with other people, having friends, support from family. Not having altercations with other people, getting along with many different types of people, being open minded. Being truely comfortable wth yourself, how YOU are as a person, and confident.
Love - who doesn't desire love? True love, which everybody has a different opinion of, would potentially be fantastic. It's something that you obviously cannot buy, it's something that anybody would want. Even if you're going through a tough time and may think "I can't be in a relationship right now", hell if the love was 'true' and genuine, then I'd want to be. That could be that extra bit of support you need to get through that hardship.
Do you really value peace and love? What do you desire out of this life? Maybe you'd rather desire something wealth over peace, or even love. I'd like to hear peoples opinions :)

I desire victory over France, I like the rivalry we have with them keeps us on our toes... or at least it should. Well three years until we will see em off from our home turf! roll on 2012 Olympics.... so no peace for me just yet eh!
-Sorry that's spam, What I'd really like is a new goverment but that's unlikely, I wish I had someone next to me at night, or someone who'd not care if I got bad results or if I messed up something.

There's nothing wrong with a healthy rivalry with another team/country in sports haha, it's good fun, and interesting when they're competitive. I believe that peace is not only about peace with others, but being at peace with yourself. Being happy, peaceful, comfortable with yourself and what you're achieving in life. Not being dragged down by other people's thoughts, negative evaluations and expectations. Good for you for sharing the love.
I'm sure we'll see off France just fine ;) lol.

What I value in life is success in terms of getting the career I desire, money, physical health, etc... . I don't care too much over whether or not I get love achieved, although perhaps that's because my current view is success and not so much love. As for peace, I agree with only parts of the definition you gave (i.e. being open-minded). The reason why I wouldn't want complete peace of other people is that life wouldn't be as interesting, there wouldn't be conflict. There'd still be medical cases for me but outside my career life, it'd be boring, dull, awful, etc... . So I'd care for there to be some peace from only some people that I know but still some amount of conflict just to keep things interesting and keep me on my toes.
But right now, I value success and to me, this means that if I have to tear apart love or peace, then so be it. Later on when I've accomplished the success I want, I'll change my focus of love and peace.

Peace wise, I would like to be at peace with myself yes, but in general not really. It would take the fun out, the thrill, the confrontation... it would ease the passion of something... so no I like heated events, discussion, people... Peace is so relative that the only peace I need is my internal peace, know who I am, why I am the way I am, and feel right with myself, other than that bring the rollercoaster.
Love - Well everyone wants love... but there is a time and place for everything. Love is such a strong word and feeling that gets washed out by mindless repeating, or confusion with infatuation...
If the love is true there won't be any doubt, there won't be any ifs, it will be permanent and will be patient. So whenever that may come, it will come.

That's the interesting thing with peace, it means something different to everybody. Then again I guess love or 'true' love does as well.
