Well, after all these years my parents begged me to get into some instrument, and I finally grew an interest in the electric guitar. SO i proposed a deal to them, the deal is as follows: "I will get a guitar, but I don't want lessons"
Yes, I don't wan't lessons, I don't feel I need lessons, I can just teach myself, does anyone seem something wrong with this?

the guitar is very commonly self-taught.. you could get a few bits of the internet to help you along!

Ok I strongly recommend you get lessons if you can.
It will make everything alot easier..
Although it is possible to teach yourself and be really good.
Like said above, to practice, learn to read tab, thats the first thing you have to do. Its really simple.
Then you need to find a song you like that sounds quite simple, and learn it from tab. Good tab site: www.mxtabs.net
Do all of this and you'll be a pro in no time. But take the lessons...!

That kinda goes without saying.. Your hardly gonna start learning the more advanced stuff first are you? :P
Tab is a really simple way of reading music, for us lazy people who can't be assed to learn to read music properly. It is unbeliebable easy, and mostly quite accurate!
Get the guitar if you can, you'll enjoy it!

Are you teaching yourself from something like a book? Cuz it's better to know how to play notes and chords and things.

If you could learn any song, I'd suggest you learn "Blackbird". It's amazing, and it feels amazing when you can actually play it.

I've never had lessons, I think it's a waste of money and time. Just look on the internet, or ask a friend to teach you the meaning of some things like Tremolo picking, artificial harmonics, hammdowns and pulloffs, bends, vibratos, then the rest should be simple. Try playing 'No Boundries' from michael Angelo, it's pretty easy plus you learn lots of things in the process :)
