So, I started high school today. I didn't realize how stupid I was all day until now. I am upset... I don't really know what to say.. Me not being able to open my locker just totally blew my entire day. I struggled to get my locker open, The older kids just scare the crap out of me, and I can't seem to just... fit in. I act stupid when I feel uncomfortable. I make a total idiot out of myself.. and then when I visited the middle school I made it worse whenever a teacher would ask "and how was today" and i'd say bad. Ugh! I promised myself i wouldn't be a total idiot... now I'm just upset.

Everything comes together after the first few weeks. Don’t worry, eventually you learn your locker combo, know how to get to all your classes, know which upperclassmen to avoid and everything becomes routine. Just remind yourself that it's only high school and it really isn't the end of the world because pretty much everyone has a bad first day. If you can get through the first month you'll be ok. Cheer up. It could be worse; I threw up on my first day of hs and barely made it to a trash can. =]

hahah yeah i walked into the wrong class... a class full fo seniors nonetheless.... and after insisting this was my class proceeded to whine "then what is my class?!?" hahaha in retrospect: hilarious then: not so much. and lockers are a bitch at first but u get used to it. I seriously wouldnt worry too much, i mean having a bad first day of high school is practically guaranteed :P ( oh and my friend (girl) walked into the guys bathroom first day so i dont think forgetting a locker combo can top that) so in conclusion (hahah) my advice is to laugh at the sucky first day, b.c. embarrassing things are almost always really funny and forgettable :) good luck in highschool and sorry for the long response :)

...true.
But how am i supposed to stop myself from being an idiot when i get uncomfortable?
I'm just...hard to explain. I'm upset with myself, even though everyone else has a bad first day.

Try creating a mantra for those types of situations, eventually you won't need to say it in your head. Also work on logic driven thinking to keep from those sort of emotions overwhelming you and mucking up your day.

You certainly aren't stupid. At least you take the time to proof-read your posts, and try your best to write with proper grammar. That's more than I can say for 90% of this forums users! Almost everyone acts stupid in an uncomfortable situation. Our minds don't work quite as fast as we might desire, and we tend to do and say stupid things while our minds try to process the best courses of action.
I wouldn't worry too much about fitting in, typical high school students are just a tad bit under mentally retarded from my experience. It will all work out honey, this was only the first day. You'll be okay, just keep trucking.
What other people think is irrelevant, you are you, and you're fine being just who you are.

Or they just stare at you like you're a retard.
Then you have to own it. If you know that you act stupidly when you get uncomfortable, then act stupid. But know that you do, and if someone says, "You're acting stupidly," which I doubt they will, then say, "Yeah, it's because you're making me uncomfortable.... now MOVE!"
And that's coming from a senior.
Trust me, I know about not fitting in. It's sort of my lifestyle.
