Having a recently lost probably the friend(and ex-girlfriend) who understood me better than anyone else I have some idea. Problem is if I knew exactly how to sort out my problem I would know my advice would work for yours. Anyway this is what I think:
1) Your not alone I am sure even the most popular teenagers feel rejection and social isolation at times so bear that in mind. It is almost certanily just a faze and something which you will be able to overcome.
2) Ask yourself if you really have a depression or pessimistic view on life and if so what could be the cause of it. Try to come up with a way to overcome this. As a christian for me it is turning to God(please don't think I am trying to force my religion on to you just trying to express a way to deal with problems), however if you are a non-believer something else may work especially a family member.
3) Stop cutting it is easier said than done but I have had friends through this and have peronally done other self-destructive behaviour. There is always someone out there that cares about you and you are on this earth for a purpose. Your life and health are your greatest assets.
4) Apolgize to your friend, it was almost certainly a two way argument but just try to express what you are going through and why you want to stay good friends with him/her.
Lastly she probably doesn't want to talk about the friend that has cancer because she wants to respect that person's privacy and also the fact that you two seem to have not always got on. Just ignore the issue of that friend and try to focus on more positive stuff.
I hope this helps sorry its not from someone from your gender or from someone with more relationship experience
