does anyone have info on it? i've know about it for a while, and after my fiasco with vista have decided to download it. The servers are bogged down, so i'm getting only mabey 100kbps. Well anyway, after reviewing the beta version of vista i have concluded that the beta sucks. The final version will have no bugs, the beta does. Periodically my screen will go blank with only my cursor showing, and it only supports dx 6. lemme log onto it and post some screenshots.

EDIT: all the problems with vista are gone now, i'll explain in a later post, but generally the expected 512 mb reccommended ram estimate is whack.

Possible Mac influence?

back in the old days...

Wow...how seemingly sexy.

This is what stopped the blackout...and what tought me an important lesson: for my birthday i want more ram.

Ummm... why did they do this?
http://img438.imageshack.us/img438/7356/sc33iw.th.png (http://img438.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sc33iw.png)

I mean really you could put more than one tab here...
http://img438.imageshack.us/img438/9461/sc47bz.th.png (http://img438.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sc47bz.png)

Cool screen saver but... why only one tab per window?
http://img438.imageshack.us/img438/6278/sc58kp.th.png (http://img438.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sc58kp.png)

ooooooo DOS...UNIX sooo much better though...
http://img438.imageshack.us/img438/816/sc65hp.th.png (http://img438.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sc65hp.png)

wow a folder that searches your hard drive for a specific type of file... original, definatly not mac like...
http://img438.imageshack.us/img438/6073/sc78xe.th.png (http://img438.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sc78xe.png)

Sooo much of my 3400+ being used, too much...
http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/182/untitled6hk.th.png (http://img409.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled6hk.png)

i used the search bar to find this:

So my finalized impression of vista is this: The final will support directx, i mean it makes no sense for microsoft to have a consol that does and an operating system that dosen't. Buy more ram... I am definatley getting at least two gigs now. Wait for the final version...then pirate it.

EDIT: oh wow i was searching a list of mirror sites for fedora core 5, and I found this:

http://mirrors.playboy.com/fedora/
ftp://mirrors.playboy.com/fedora/

I'm downloading my operating system (one of em anyway) from playboy.com...seems like hef is cheating on the bunny with the penguin...

I give warnings and other important messages through PMs. I didn't PM you because this wasn't that important, however, if you want an official warning, I could always give you one :P :P

ya vista wont be smooth unless you have an A FX 60 and 2gb of some OCZ low latency RAM

despite this i will be buying it to show off and for halo 2 on pc

because halo 2 owns

No no no! Not that high! I'm running it fine with disabled desktop composition. I would reccommend a 2 Ghz cpu and a gig of ram, not quite and FX 60! But, that would be a sweet anus computer!

Oh no, Vista will run completely fine and smooth even with a 2GHz processor. The operating system just used so much of advent's CPU power so it could load faster. Plus, the CPU is there to be used, ya know :)

that is not a good thing!!!! ....unless you count the system idle process

the system idle process is taking 20k on my laptop is it different??

Kiros

The System Idle Process can take anywhere from 16-32KB in memory. This doesn't affect anything since that's extrememly low and this process is the "kernel" of the OS and keeps the CPU busy (idling).

By the way, advent wasn't talking about the memory; he was talking about the CPU Usage, which, if the system is idling, should read as 99%.

oh yes i see now!! its varying between 70 an 98 right now :D i thought he was talking about CPU usage uned performance lol!!
