She said, lighten up boy,
I said, I can't handle this,
She said, what's wrong?
I said, You wouldn't understa-and...
She smiled and sat down
Next to me on the sofa,
She put her left arm around me,
Said no one would harm me...
And just for a second
I thought maybe she was right,
I thought maybe life was good,
I thought maybe things would work out
For just once in my, overly miserable life....
But then, just then,
The doorbell rang
And she stood up
And I whispered to myself,
"Goddamn it, man!"
And I need her by my side,
She's not my future wife,
But she's my guide and she's my life
When everything else is shit,
She still gives a shit...
And just for a second
I thought maybe she was right,
I thought maybe life was good,
I thought maybe things would work out
For just once in my, overly miserable life....
But then, just then,
The doorbell rang
And she stood up
And I whispered to myself,
"Goddamn it, man!"
And she answered it
And the door swung open,
And fully clad in a blue tux, oh man,
A gorgeous guy with deep blue eyes
Said hi...
And my jaw dropped,
I was angry,
Even though she wasn't mine,
I didn't want to see her like
That with another guy...
And just for a second
I thought maybe she was right,
I thought maybe life was good,
I thought maybe things would work out
For just once in my, overly miserable life....
But then, just then,
The doorbell had to ring
And she had to stand up
And let that goddamn man in...
And I thought things were good,
Even when my parents kicked me out
And my ex-girlfriend scratched 'I hate you'
Into the side of my old car...
So old it makes my wonder how I've ever gotten this far (in life)...
But then that guy, with his deep blue eyes,
And a blue tux, oh how I wanna die,
He smiled, a vibrant white shone in,
And baby, did I cringe...
And just for a second
I thought maybe she was right,
I thought maybe life was good,
I thought maybe things would work out
For just once in my, overly miserable life....
But that man had to be there,
Standing in the light
Making my girl smile
Making my world die...
I don't know what went wrong,
But I stood up and closed my eyes,
And when I opened them
I found a beautiful girl
Around my waist,
And she kissed me hard,
I was no longer afraid...
And now I know that she...
I know that she is right,
I know that life is good,
I know things will work out
Finally I can say
That I am proud
To be who I am,
And not somebody else!!!
I said, I can't handle this,
