one of my friends is what you could call a player. i know he's going to ask me to go out with him, but i don't just want to be another name on his list. I also still want to be his friend.

so how do i get around this awful situation?

Tell him that you don't want to go out with him, but that you still want to be his friend. Be blunt, but don't be fueled by anger, confusion, etc. Just tell him that you're not interested in going out with him, but you really want to keep him as a friend.

A few weeks ago, I asked a girl out, and she said she wasn't interested in being in a relationship with me and that she just wanted us to be friends... And right now we're still really close and there's no tension at all between us whatsoever.

Just say no, politely, of course, if he asks to go out with you. You shouldn't be forced to go out with someone you don't like that way.

Just say you don't think of him like that but you do still want to be friends with him. I think thats all you can do.

Exactly what I would have said.

And maybe, if you tell him that you don't want to be another name on his list, he might realize that he's a "player"...Sometimes guy don't realize that fact.

Ive seen this happen with my friends before and usually the guy keeps asking and pleading towards her. It dosent hurt to give him a chance. Yea you guys are friends but arnt we all before we get into a realitonship? He might be different with you and maybe you will develop feelings for him. If he really wants too you should just try[But only if your comfortable]
