I have it too. Do you want to talk about the symptoms you experience?

when i get triggered by anything i really can see the memory in my mind, and afterwords the rest of the day i just feel really crappy. My triggers can come from smells, feelings, words i hear, pretty much anything.
I could say ptsd has affected my life.

What triggered your PTSD?

By the way, feel free to PM me if you want to. That's what I'm here for. :)

I believe I have PTSD, but have not been diagnosed.

Same, mine was triggered by a friends death a few years ago. Ever since, any sort of memory about it..for example a smell, a familiar feeling, or even something as stupid as a song..i get pretty bad flashbacks sometimes..i call them loophole nights because my meds stop most of them now. Kinda glad to see a thread about it actually..

You aren't the only one that has PTSD, there are quite a few people I can see that do :), you could probably find more out by using the Search feature :)

Before figuring out what the problem/s I had were, I, doctors and family went up several avenues. Something that was a possibility was PTSD, due to when my Dad died when I was 10. For almost two years my unfortunate second home was a hospital ward where I'd be visiting him every day, although unfortunate it was something I had to, and wanted to do on an almost daily basis for hours, afternoons, evenings at a time after school. Watching somebody you love fade away and eventually die after almost 2 years of leukemia amongst other things was hard.

When I went to see a doctor and mentioned the possibility and idea that this was what the problem could possibly be, he said to me that people lose their loved ones in life throughout their life - and it's not often a reason for PTSD. However this was a general practioner not a specialist, not that I'm discrediting what he said, I'm sure there are cases. For me, I guess not.

From what I know, typical people that may suffer from PTSD would be somebody who's been sexually abused, raped, fought in wars and seen people killed, witnessed a brutal attack or even been attacked themselves.

If you're a witness to domestic violence at home when u are young, can it cause PTSD?

If you're a witness to domestic violence at home when u are young, can it cause PTSD?It could, but it's a pretty common phenomena. Most people wouldn't end up with PTSD just because of that.

It may be totally unrelated to what you saw or didn't see. I'd suggest worrying less about labeling it and worrying more about fixing it.
