“Well hello little friend” she said with a smile
“why don’t you sit and stay for awhile?
we can talk and laugh and have a cup of tea,
and I’ll talk about you and you about me”
So her little friend sat down to stay
And their chat was very merry and gay
They talked about life and past and now
And they even talked about old Bessie the cow
The time flew by and hours sped past
And to her dismay, they had to part at last
But as she led her friend to the door
She thought of one question more
“why do you only visit once in a blue moon?
And always after the time of noon?
And it also seems you tend to come
When someone’s life is done?”
“The last time you came my old uncle Bill
Past away after a time of being quite ill
And this time it was Aunt Suzy
Oh! She was quite a loonie”
Her friend turned from the door
To smile at her once more
And to give his answer
Which came as quite a shock to her
“my dear old friend, I have some strange news
Of why I only visit in times of blues.
I am death, you see my dear
And I became your friend so you’ll have nothing to fear”
“because the next time I arrive
You will not survive.
I am coming to collect you
Do not fret, you are one in a few”
Her dark friend turned and fled
And left her with a feeling of dread.
And with one little though in her head,
“when he comes, I will be dead”
I wrote this just now, off the top of my head. it's random and I have no idea where it came from and its not very good but I thought I'd share.
