Well, as a renown computer nerd :P, I suggest you should reinstall it. Actually only reinstall it if it is recent (2005-2006... maybe 2004). If you do reinstall it, make sure you go with the full installation and have Norton AntiVirus installed with it! Also, check my sticky in this forum to learn how you can protect your computer better :)

dont, it sucks

get AVG free and if you must have a firewall get something besides norton and windows firewall

if your on a router a firewall isnt required as a router is more or less a hardware firewall

Cory is just biased. Norton is the best in security. Even recommended by The Screen Savers (used to be show on TechTV). NIS provides both a powerful firewall and antivirus. Also, NIS includes parental controls, intrusion detection and prevention, worm/trojan protection (outbreak alert), an awesome antispam, and privacy control. If you have a good computer, Norton's start-ups will only take a minute (or less) to load. If you have a bad computer, then it would be much worse off with just one virus than with a few more start-ups. Oh, and the great thing about reinstalling it would be that you get another free year of updates :D As soon as you reinstall it, update it (restart if needed), get more updates, repeat until completely updated. Then you can configure it if you want ;)

You shouldnt have to pay for virus protection.

Have you ever tried removing norton? Like if you run out of updates and you dont feel like paying for it and want to remove it? Its hard. Norton doesnt like to be removed and it asks too many questions. Dont reference TSS, the show doesnt even exist anymore.

My entire security was free/better than norton.

Norton doesnt block against fragmented port scans no matter what kiros says, ive scanned him multiple times....

I'll reference The Screen Savers if I wish. It was one of the greatest shows ever and is worth much more than your words. And yes, I have removed Norton before. I did it in just a few clicks. Nothing hard about clicking

Now, now, your security was and will always be crap if you don't have Norton :canadian: Also, you don't have to pay for something you already have. Charlotte already has NIS... Reading posts does help, Cory :)

And sorry to burst your bubble, Cory, but Norton protects against everything. Oh, you guys want to hear what Cory actually accomplished? He managed to do a port scan on me and found no open ports! I'm so scared... couldn't find one port. :headbonk: Please Cory, grow up, and for our sanity, stop trying to act like a script kiddie

i hate programming

did you accomplish a port scan once i got my smoothie all the way up? no, you were ip blocked. you were sending packets and it was saying stfu

your welcome to try again of course

noobhaxxors.servebeer.com

only open ports you will find are the ones i told it to open for certain reasons

othwerise, it also functions as a honeypot/tarpit which norton can never accomplish

Yes, Norton blocked your IP automatically. I could have also made it reject any and every connection, but I wanted to see if you could find just one open port. It was a blast when you thought you actually accomplished something

And why would I waste my time port scanning? That's for lamers and script kiddies anyway

Yeah kid, if the install log is missing, it won't be able to automatically uninstall. That basically goes for any modern program - especially if they use the registry. Then, you just have to do it manually, which is not that hard

if you would have read the thread the guy did try to remove it manually because Norton protected itself because it's really gay

also I have voice recognition software now so I never have to type

Kiros

Yeah, if you set Norton to protect itself, then it will, but that won't keep it from uninstalling, however, if you try to do it manually and only delete the uninstaller, then you will need to reinstall it to uninstall it. Umm... Yeah, why do I care if you have voice recognition software or not? O_o
