i think that it is really annoying when people ask "is it normal"...and people always respond by saying "yes it is normal"...it is ALWAYS "normal" and people should know this..i dont get why a bunch of people ask if its normal when they know that it is............this wasnt really a suggestion...but i dont know where else to put this..this is more like a complaint....if you cant do anything about it , i can live with it..im just stating my opinion in a complaint form

Because that's the puberty forums for ya. People ask if doing something is normal and we have an obligation to give them the best answer we can. Nothing we can do to change it. I'll agree with you, that it is very annoying, but you can just ignore the forums. That's what I do most of the time.

Well, most people wouldn't ask if something was normal unless they weren't sure. You know how it is, sometimes you get this idea in your head that when something changes in your body, it might mean that something is wrong. Unless you've been through it before, you might not know for sure if it really is normal or not. It's the same with any other "am I normal?" questions.
I agree, there seem to always be a plethora (that's my official fun word of the day xD) of threads asking questions with seemingly obvious answers. The fact is, though, that we get those questions every day and are used to hearing about those situations. Sometimes the kid asking the question really has no clue about what's going on, and it's our job to give them an answer.
So, sorry, but there really is nothing we can do about it. Matt's given some good advice though: Feel free to ignore the P101 forums if they annoy you. We have a lot of other good stuff on the site, which I'm sure you're already aware of. :)

I think all new people should have to read a thread with the basic questions and the answer!! "I have hair down 'there' is it ok?" Answer: Yes. :P Just so they all know. ya? XD

There are guides, and FAQ's but people still won't read them.

^^Correct. We can put nothing but guides, FAQs etc.. and it wouldn't be noticed by the people who have problems. They'll just go on ahead and post about their issue. As I said, just ignore the forums an if you want to go there then go.

I know. Christ almighty I was browsing in P101 a few weeks ago, told some people that the exact question was in my puberty guide, and they were unaware of it's existance..AND ITS A STICKY!
Tis' Enough to drive ya foolish.

Thats shallow. Not everyone knows its normal you know, some people are actually pretty worried about this stuff - and how are the supposed to know if its normal? they dont know what other people go through and what happens to them. If your really insightful like you sound like you are, then yeah you'd probably already know its normal. And others want reassurance.

Well how do you define "Normal". Some things can be pretty way out and most people would agree are not normal, like bestiality or incest for example, but in other cases the boundaries are less clear.
If "Is it normal" means "do most people do this" then the answer to quite of lot of the questions might be "no, most people dont do that", however if "Is it normal" means "do a significant minority of people do this" then many more things become "normal", and the answer becomes "yes, lots of other people do that".

Great answer Ryan, +rep
Just because we may have read the question lots of times and maybe given the same answer lots of times you have to assume that its a new question or concern to the OP and that they deserve a thoughtful and polite answer.

The intent of this forum is to help those who need it.
As annoying as it may be in the puberty forums at times,
It's perfectly fine to ask if you're not sure.
We've all had those questions at one point or another.
Some people may be sheltered and honestly don't know,
May have never had a proper class to teach them about puberty,
Or are just worried and not sure,
Since a lot of these things don't get discussed aloud.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that shagging your brother is not a normal or healthy activity...

Yea if people find it annoying then just don't read them.
Pretty simple tbh, now I'm not a mod there anymore I do'nt go near p101 unless Jon directs me to a strange question so we can laugh at it. :)

to epiphany and ryanlol. I understand that this forum is for people that are unsure of themselves and their problems. I still help the people as best as I can. I dont want to ignore the P101 forums b/c they are my favorite to give advice in b/c i have gone through alot in that section just like the people. I wouldnt be continueing to reply to threads if i didnt know how to control my own annoyance. :D....but thank you for the constructive critisizom. I have taken what everybody said, into account and i have changed my view on the situation.

There's no need to lock every thread that gets to a certain age.

Yeah, but isn't the rule that if a thread hasn't been posted in for .... a month, I think it is, that you can no longer post in it? or is that rule abolished?

He's the OP he started the thread so he can bump it if he wants to.

Okay so to be clear, if the Original Poster bumps the topic, the thread can go on, but if someone else bumps it, it gets locked?
Giles

Yeah, if the Op has something to add the his/her thread then they are free to bump it with the new information.
