My laptop is pretty much paper weight right now. For some reason I woke up this morning and my battery was dead, I check the cords and everything and it was plugged up. It was getting some juice from the battery because the red light blinked when i tried to turn it on. I searched around and the only problem i could find is that the charger port is broken, but i tried wiggling it around and pushing it in and it didn't do anything. It's not even the cord that's fucked up because it's getting juice from the socket. I tried calling Tech Support but i couldnt get my serial number since it was wiped off. Do any of you guys have any suggestions on what to do and if I do take it to the shop and it is the charger port how much do you think it would cost me?

have you tried removing the battery and then plugging in the cord and see if that works? That would decide whether its a battery problem or a charger/port problem.

Yea I tried taking the battery out and charging it. I am starting to really think it's the charger port.

How old is the laptop, and what brand/make is it?

It should still be under warranty then, they shouldn't charge you to fix it. You should back up everything before you return it (if you do) just in case they send you a replacement instead of fix the one you have.

How can I back it up without turning it on( since it won't power up)?

Well, you said yourself that the port is broken.
I would take it in and get an estimate.

Well, that's not bad, compared to how it is here.

If you wanted to get really technical, you could manually back up the HDD by removing it and getting it into a computer that works. Or, an alternate solution would be getting a battery that is charged (preferably from a friend, if they happen to have one) and use that as a temporary power source. If you're desperate, you could even wire the leads from a different battery to your battery port, though I don't recommend that as you could easily damage your hardware.
