So, http://kidshealth.org/teen/food_fitness/dieting/bmi.html claims that Im obese, but another BMI calculator says I am just overweight. They both give me the same BMI, which is 27,8, but kidshealth ´s calculator also says Im obese, when another says Im just slightly overweight.

So, the question is, which one to believe?

Kids health is the one to believe because Nemours is a prestigious health foundation.

The other one was also a prestigious health foundation, but its Finnish so you probably wont understand the language.

If I really am obese, then Im in a shock...
I´ve always thought that Im just slightly overweight like the finnish calculator has said...

What is the other one?

But if you really want to get a accurate reading go to a doctor and they can tell you.

Also the CDC (center for disease control) has a calculator and that is a government site and that will be accurate.

Honestly, don't pay much attention to BMI. It doesn't account for muscle mass which is actually heavier than fat and so is very misleading.
Getting a body fat percentage is a much better way of gauging how much weight you need to lose.

There are different BMI calculators depending on your age: there's one for adults and one for teenagers and kids. However, the BMI calculation isn't a very reliable nor valid test so don't get hooked on what the reading is that you get. Take it as a rather inaccurate ballpark estimate.

That one says I might be obese. The other one I used was in tohtori.fi, but I think it is for adults. The adults calculator says Im overweight and teenager calculators say Im obese. But what is the difference? If you weight and height is the same as an adult or a teenager, why is a teenager at that weight/height obese, but the adult is not? I hope you get what I mean.

Honestly, stop paying attention to them. BMI is no good.

Spare yourself the stress of inaccurate measures and do the following:
Cut out snacks like crisps (thats chips if you're in the US) and chocolate. Replace them with fruits, nuts and cereals.
Have smaller portions of your meals and always have a large drink of water with it. The water will help you feel full even though you are eating less than before.
Get yourself more active through exercise and by walking instead of getting the bus.
And keep hydrated as this helps your metabolism.
