Fading Dreams [Poem]

I guess that this is the end
The end of hope,love and everything.
So take apart my body, try to find my soul
You'll come up empty, my heart is missing.

I can't begin to tell you
of the pain I collect inside
It's like catching fireflies
they always try to hide.

But determined as I am,
I won't give up until I hold
The brightest jar you've ever seen
You'd think of me as bold.

But just my luck, the glass shatters
and it cuts deep into my scarred skin
Letting the pain loose once more
Where does this story begin?

A year ago, yet just today
This pain is fresh, and oh so old
I'm becoming numb without my heart
so my actions are a little cold

I pulled you back, when you let go
I held on tighter as you walked away
So now my fingers are broken
Because I seen no other way

You were my life, my reason
to be alive on this very day
Now I'm left here clutching my chest
because you took it all away

I trusted you with so damn much
I gave it all up for you
Now i'm left with absolutely nothing
and I don't know what to do.

I'm broken once again,
once I pulled myself back in place
The pieces are so far gone now
and there's nothing left to chase.

My dreams have faded into white
I can't see what's ahead
I feel so lost, on this familiar road
What the hell's going through my head?

Just don't forget to remember me
when people ask you who you used to love
Please smile when you say my name
because that's all i've ever dreamed of.
