i wait until i know my family is busy with other stuff that they won't need me for and i shut my door. as an added bonus i can hear everything on the stairs outside of my room. =)

I had a lock but i got locked out once and had to pick it with a screwdriver then breaking the whole knob but now i got a regular knob.

I do it usually when everyone is sleeping or downstairs, the only person i really have to worry about walking in is my mom because she doesn't knock but my dad always knocks.
