In most of the U.S. if you are under 18 or 21 in some places, it is Illegal to look at pornography. Now, people still do, and you can get caught, and it will be nasty. I do not recommend doing it.

yeah i know half the people i know watch porn and stuff like that....noone has ever gotten caught

It's technically illegal, but so many kids do it, and I've never heard of someone getting caught.

Actually only specific sites are illegal. TECHNICALLY if you click the "yes, I'm over 18" button and you aren't, your breaking the law. But as said above, they're not gonna press charges or anything!

However, other sites that don't even ask for your age are perfectly legal to view. I obviously can't tell you those sites, but they're easy to find. So good luck!

It's technically not illegal for a minor (under 18 or 21 in some places) to view pornography, however it is illegal to disseminate pornography to minors. This is why you have to be 18 or 21 to enter a porn shop and all porn sites have the "are you over 18" question before you can enter. It's illegal for the distributor, not the viewer. I believe disseminating porn to a minor is a felony charge, actually.

in France theirs no age limit for internet porne but to send picture is diffrent..

Seriously, isnt watching porn underage like the same thing as playing R-rated game underage?

Read Jareds post. It's the same concept. It's illegal for a shopkeeper to sell someone under 17 a R rated game/movie, but not illegal for the customer.

In England, you can legally have sex at 16, gay sex at 17, drive at 17, but you aren't allowed to watch porn until you are 18. Why? It doesn't really make sense.

Porn is technically illegal unless you are 18 or over. Not sure how they prosecute you other then going through your hard drive or possessions though...

18 is considered mature adult age, and obviously porn features fully-grown men and women doing sexual activities. But yeah the majority of under-18s watch porn i believe.

Really, it's not illegal for the customer. If I buy a ticket to a rated R movie and go in alone, it's their fault for selling me the ticket when I'm obviously underage.

I think this person is talking in general. If you were from Canada, they wouldn't send you to Texas.

When porn sites have the '' Are you over 18 '' Disclaimer all it is doing is saying, if you click yes it is YOUR responsability if you get caught, and that they cannot be sued.

Exactly! The are you over 18 button not being that still makes it as illegal, but still I've never heard of someone getting arrested for watching porn, but buying it, another story.

My little 7 year old brother was caught (I KNOW! what kind of brothers does he have?) and my dad assumed that i did too and put parental controls on my own computer (which i hacked off)

but it isn't legal, but no ones gonna catch you, unless you have SpyWare, but the douche who installed that spyware will be in more trouble.

OK, a very good portion of the people who posted in this thread are wrong.

Although I don't think minors should watch porn, it is NOT illegal for them to do so. It IS illegal for someone to disseminate porn to a minor however. So, for instance, a 16 year old boy goes into a porn shop and purchases porn. If the store sells this, they have committed a crime, which is disseminating porn to a minor (possibly a felony, though I'm not sure).

The reason you are asked if you are over 18 on a porn website, is so the site is not guilty of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

Umm...yes.
Pornography is illegal if you are under 18. In the sense that you can't participate. However as far as viewing is concerned, it is illegal for the site to allow you to view. As far as I know there are no laws against you actually viewing it.

Hopefully that makes sense.

However, I am pretty certain you wont go to jail for going to a porn site and getting off and if you do, all teens will protest for you ;)
