I view homosexuals, heterosexuals, bisexuals, pansexuals, etc... as what they all are, what we all are - humans - we all have the same rights. Being of a certain orientation I don't think should prevent you of those rights.
When it comes to marriage, I support gay marriage just as much as I support heterosexual marriage. But I also support the notion that the church has their right to express their beliefs, so a gay couple can try to get married at a church but the church I believe has the right to deny the couple a religious marriage.

Everyone is entitled to rights, no matter what there race, sexuality, gender etc etc.
So Homosexuals should be allowed rights in my opinion.

Human is human.
Rights are for all humans
gay people are human
Therefore, they deserve the same rights
Also applies to transgenderd, which doesn't come up as often

Rights are for ALL humans, not just heterosexuals. And anywhere that prevents Gay People is complete bullshit.
And by the way. Massachusetts is not a gay friendly community at all.

Of course we deserve rights! You can't treat GLBT people any differently to those who are straight, we're all human and so we should all be equal.

I totally agree with everything here. I especially want to point out the part about churches having the right to deny a couple marriage. That makes perfect sense, just because gay marriage is legal doesn't mean that religions are forced to accept them. Religion has always had a freedom and if we deny that it would be slightly hypocritical to demand gay rights while taking rights from the chruch.

I'm gay, so i see nothing wrong with it at all. Every single human being on this planet should deserve rights no matter what sexuality they are.

I've just got back from a conference where you decided, as a unanimous decision from the 1700 Quakers there, to challenge the UK law and allow same-sex couples legal marriages in Quaker places of worship. Booyeah!

Absolutely.
Homosexuals are humans there's nothing wrong with them. Personal preference for them is their own sex. It's not a horrible thing.
I don't understand why so many people are afraid of homosexuality. I also don't understand why gay marriage is frowned upon and mostly illegal in the USA when the Declaration of Independence clearly states that ALL men have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which they are being denied. Also I do not understand why some people use the 'God excuse' when the constitution clearly states that the USA is NOT a Christian based nation.
It's sickening how ignorant people can be, but that's life, and they're entitled to their opinions as well.

I voted "I couldn't care less" because I honestly couldn't care less. I don't see why they shouldn't have equal rights though. Nothing wrong with them. I might feel slightly uncomfortable around them, but I'm generally uncomfortable around people anyway, so no biggie.

When you say "human", are you referring to their anatomy or simply as a global overview of a species??
If we're talking anatomy, then something that is wrong (asin, clearly not permitted by the anatomy) shouldn't get the same rights as those who "obey", should they??
I personally don't give a damn, but conformance to the "rules" and implied laws of human nature should play a big part in the matter - Homosexuals clearly violate these for obvious reasons (you know, the whole inlet/outlet thing).

I hope I don't stir any bad thoughts in people, by what I'm about to say.
So let me start by saying, I do support gay rights and gay marriage, I am bisexual myself.
It's become known to me, through hours of observing the way people act, talk about, and treat gays, I'm seeing a somewhat repeat of History.
Today's gay man, is yesterday's black man. People believe that if you are gay, you are sub-human, should have no rights, you are no better then a stray unloved animal, left on the street. I mean what does that sound like? It sounds a lot like what our African Americans went through not to long ago, and yet, people allow it to happen, why? Because "He's gay" and "doesn't deserve to live" When I come across a homophobic person, I do everything in my power and make them think I'm gay, and then I challenge them. I don't think people today realize the similarities. When someone beats up some kid, because they assume he's gay, no one thinks twice about it. Today, if a white person beats down a black person, everything thinks about it. "Omg! that white boy took out that black dude! he must be racist!" Yet, if a white person beats down a gay kid, everyone thinks the same thing "He's gay, he deserves it."
This is the world we live in today, not racism, but Homophobia. I ask you, what is the difference? "America Land of the Free" except: If you're gay. We're supposed to live in a land without prejudice, yet, for the past 100 or so years, that's all we've had to look at. This question has bothered me for years now. Honestly, who cares if the guy next door is gay, and wants to marry the love of his life, you married your wife, the love of your life, why cant he marry his?
This post is really more for those who don't support gays and their rights, it is intended to make them think, and challenge their "because he's gay" mentality.
And for those who are against for Moral reasons, aka religion; Ask yourself this. Does it Not say in the bible, that "we are all gods children?" Do they or do they not preach in Church that "God Loves ALL his Children?'' Think about it
PLEASE NOTE: This was not intended to offend anyone, and I understand that once this is posted, it has been said and i cannot take it back, I do apologize if anyone is offended. Just hope I don't get banned for this. Heh

The whole gay rights thing has always really pissed me off. "gays" arent some other species, they're human beings who just happen too have a different sexual preference. Its got nothing to do with "gay rights" but just basic CIVIL rights that everyone should have.
I mean seriously people, Homosexuals are just as human as anyone else.

This is a very controversial subject but I shall give it a go and try NOT to argue.
In the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Human Rights Act 1998 and Equal Opportunities Act it states that as a human being your entitled to be yourself 'within legal limits' regardless of age, sex, race, employment position etc...
In legal terms gays do have all the rights of any other couple including legal consent, marriage etc... but personally in argumentative situations I would say I disagree with homosexuality of any kind, for it goes ageist the reproduction system and the whole point in sexual intercourse/actions but on a casual note I would just disagree with male homosexuality for its just plain gross and if it wasn't for one of my good friends being bisexual I would not even treat a gay male as a person and I would repeatedly refer to them as 'a gay' or 'it'.
Sorry if this upsets people but, at the end of the day as long as ones homosexual disgusts don't interact or interfere with me or my loved ones I will remain totally legal and humane (yes humane... don't ask) with my actions towards a gay.

Well of course gay people should have every right that any other person does, but not marriage the point of that is for two people who love eachother to procreate and well gay and lesbian couples obviously can't do that

yes definitely but not the right to marry, it just one more thing for them to brag about, and in australia under the Family Law Act and Marriage Act 1961 it doesn't give gays anymore rights if they were to get married.

I don't see why gays shouldn't have rights. We are all exactly the same. The only difference is that gays are attracted to the same sex. Not only that, its like asking if Bisexuals should have rights. Besides, what people did to gays in the old days is so horrifying! I definately don't want that to happen to me at all

Why shouldn't gays get married? we are as equal as if a man and a woman got married. Marriage is not just between a man and a woman. It is between 2 couples who love each other

definitely we should have as much as everyone else.str8 peoples out there listen to me.imagine if you werent allowed to marry your opposite gender how would it feel.i think you would fell angry and betrayed because thats the way you should live a plus and a negative makes an equal.wrong, there are no boundaries and any gay or bi haters out there will feel bad one day when they have a child that is bi or gay and have a mental breakdown because they cant come to terms with the fact that same sex coupling is normal.
sorry for the long post.;)

Why should why people love effect human rights? Its mad for someone not to have all their rights because they don't only love the opposite sex!
It also strikes me as absurd when we get people saying how people should 'have human rights, we should all be individual and had our freedom' and can then turn round and say how gays are wrong and that kinda thing!

Absolutly not. Gays should be stripped of all rights. The right to vote - gone. The right to free speech - gone. The right to mingle with the normal people of society - gone. The right to live - gone.
The fact this question is even brought up as a debate topic kind of annoys me. To me this is like asking the question "Should black people be able to vote?" or "Should women be treated as second class citizens?". They are no brainers and sort of insult your intelligence by asking it.

I personally think that gays/bi-s/les whatevershould have rights.
All the same rights as straight people.
It really bugs me that some people think that people that are different in orientation should have no-little rights. EVERY ONE IS THE SAME. They are a human right? A person? A living being? Just a little bit different from you. Just because someone likes someone of the same sex does not mean they should be treated any different.
Thats my look on it.
I the mass of people in the world will relize it in my lifetime.....Like sooooon!

Gay people should have the right to get married. Its the damn bible thumpers who keep them from getting married, but its not fair to those people. They can't change who they are!!! Its because the political system in the US is corrupted so far as to disobey the constitution and religion is deciding laws over gay marriage.
PS- If you can't tell it from my post, I am atheist/pastafarianist!!! I can rant forever over religion's involvement in today's government and society, but thats for a different thread.
