i'm brunette, and one time i found a red hair on my head.....
it was attacked to my scalp, so it wasn't just from somebody else. it was so weird.
anyway.... yeah. don't concern yourself.

This is due to disease or congenital anomalies changing that single hair (in other words, your hair follicle went bizerk). You have things called melanocytes which control your hair and skin pigmentation. In a hair follicle, the melanocytes are located at the base of the follicle where new hair is produced at the start of the anogen (or growth) phase of the hair cycle. The melanocytes recieve signals that tell them when to start producing melanin. Because you are a red head, yyou have pheomelanin (which is a type of melanin found in red hair which contains sulfer and alkali), but the melanocytes in that (black) hair follicle sent signals to send eumelanin (which is a type of melanin responsible for black/brown skin and hair) to the cortex of the shaft of that piece of hair. The melanocytes can send for different levels of eumelanin and pheomelanin pigments, but only one type of melanin is usually synthesized at one time, causing changes in hair pigmentation and the intensity of hair color. This is why our hair can change color.
It is normal. I mean, think of it this way. In a class of 100,000 (about how many noticeable hairs their are on the human body) it is likely that one is going to get confused and be different. If the class is all 100% with it, and no one is confused... THAT IS A HELLA LUCKY/SMART CLASS! Yea
Hope this helps.

Hey Guys
The other day I got out the shower and was drying myself off and I saw that I had one single black pube, Im a red head, so it stood out fairly well.
Im just wondering, how did this happen? am I going to start to get more??
I haven't found any other black/dark pubes, only the one.
I respect that pube for rebelling and not conforming to the rest of my pubes.
:P
Any help or information will be appreciated :)
Thanks
yes they will come in black umm i'm a blonde but even when i got my first black i knew what it was its a sign of puberty welcome to manhood also ur pubes come in ur natural hair color first then come in black... =)

Basically, puberty.
Your pubic hair will appear to be the same colour as the hair on your head, but as time goes by they will get darker, nothing to worry about, just one small step to becoming a man

While I appreciate your opinion and criticism, I must beg to differ. I did a project on it in my AP Biology class (which I got an A on), so I am pretty sure that my information is correct. I have several credited sources supporting my data, and I would be more than happy to read from the sources you find. The difference between your opinion and my data is that I have viable, scientific research to back up my conclusion, while you use your personal situation to back up yours.
You are simply seeking the surface question when he asks, "Why do I have a single black pubic hair?" If you truly analysed the question, you would see that he is really asking the general question of "Why do I have an odd colored hair?" One must think past the surface, even for a simple question like what he asked.
You must remember that everyone is different, and he is specifically referring to the fact that he is a natural redhead and has a black pubic hair. In your specific case, you my be blonde and have black pubic hairs, but there are plenty of people who are redheads and have red pubic hair.
Do you even know what melanocytes, eumelanin and pheomelanin pigments are? Please research and find viable sources to back up your opinions and conclusions, BEFORE you criticize the integrity of others. Thank you for your humble opinions, as I honorably bow.
As I said before, if you find information supporting your conclusion, I would be MORE than happy to read it.

Okay time for a girl to show a guy up.
First off he is not dumb, that is exactly right. Although blonds get black pubic hair, red heads don't.
I think that is technically where the term fire crotch comes from, because there pubic hair is red, that means facial hair, armpit hair and pubic region hair, that means it is NOT black but it is red.
