don't you think these days things are costing too much? like a bottle of coke here for example. it was $1.37 here and 2 years ago it was 1.06. don't you think the numbers are getting high?

i know because here in florida we got that law where every job with a minimum pay will be paid 1 dollar more but the president was thinking he should raise gas prices to equal that so i starting to find that even though we have more money, we still pay about the same price except its in a bigger number.

We do not have a command economy, the price of gas is not set by the president. The oil companies produce gasoline in amounts to maximize their profits and people use as much as they can stand to spend on it.
Also if you increase the minimum wage, its like in creasing the price of any product or service, businesses will buy less minimum wage work. They'll cheat and use illegals, or they will hire over seas companies when they can who pay workers less, or they will buy more automation because it is a substitute good for minimum wage labor.
Often increases in minimum wage are still below prevailing wages anyways so it doesn't even affect most people.
Perhapse you heard them discuss raising the tax on gasoline. By far the biggest profits off the sale of gasoline is made by state and federal governemnts who generally make 10 times as much money off a gallon of gas than the oil companies do in the form of per gallon taxes. They don't have to run gasstations or oilrefineries either, they just have to hold a gun up and say "Give us 45 cents a gallon or you go to jail." Prety sweet way of taxing you don't you think? They even get to say they are taxing the Oil companies but the Oil companies don't pay the tax, they just collect it like a guy in a toll booth. And holding a gun to the head of a retailer costs ALOT less then actually making and selling stuff.
And, incedently, Coke and Pepsi make even more profit per gallon of their product then do Oil Companies or Government make off of gasoline. Since you were complaining about the high price of carbonated sugar water. Mmm, sweet caffine, nature's most perfect drug.

you know brazil is going to declare energy independence, which means they will no longer need to import oil anymore? why? because they are using Ethonal.....sometimes pure ethonal, made from sugercane..its very clean burning and much MUCH cheaper, more like 19 cents a gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your miliage is reduced by a bit however, a car that gets 30 miles a gallon off gass, may only get 22 miles a gallon of Ethonal. AMERICA NEEDS ETONAL NOW!!!!!!! I'm going to buy a flex car, one that can run off either etonol or gas and I'm going to really try and push for an E85 a ethonal gas mix. We need this, cuz oil sucks. Now off to the real argument. inflation, meh, we cant really stop it on our own, high inflation is the sign of a failing economy, however, our inflation is good, so we have a good economy, but it would be worse if the price was droping, thats an even worse sign of a failing economy.

American/ European/ Asian scientists already have sufficient hydrogen cars. In the United States, there are many in testing. City buses in Seattle are being tested. A handful of cars are being tested by selected families throughout the country. However, as long as oil countries are getting there oil, there is no way Hydrogen and Ethanol have a chance in American markets. In the meantime, Brazil’s economy is booming, all of the money it had to spend on importing oil, are now going into its economy, employment is up, inflation is down, and they are experiencing a boom in international commerce. Meanwhile American politics are making moves against foreign commerce. The Dubai Ports deal that was so publicized by the media, sent out a strong message that America is not interested in Foreign commerce, weather intended or not. In this administration we have seen the government enforce harder and harder until our freedoms are in jeopardy. The government spying threw Google and Wiretaps, not allowing the UN election inspectors, or weapons inspectors to do there job. Not allowing the UN to tour our Military Jails. Pushing for close mindedness and fundamental Christian views. Investing all of our money and resources into a War the majority of the United States doesn’t want to be in. All the while letting the economy go on funding cuts. Letting systems like Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid, Medicare etc go on funding cuts. Its not right. My mother teaches as Job Corps a Federally Funded “school†that teaches under privileged teenagers and young adults trades such as medical occupations, welding, painting, carpentry, forestry, computer business applications. It also gets them a High School Diploma and Drivers license and finds them a Job and house. Programs like this keeps people off of welfare, it educates and prepares people. Its a very important program, and its had some huge funding cuts. My mother, who teaches Medical Occupations, has had a 50% funding cut! Instead of books for all her students, she has a book per table! Very few medical supplies, handouts, no overhead, or computers. Its an outrage. She has asked numerous times for more funding so she can better teach her students but she is answered with rude replies from the Department Of Labor and sometimes no reply at all. Then when the DOL tours the campus in there bi-monthly surveys, they get angry with the state of her class and say she needs to do better or they will completely cut her class from the program! All in all, there are about 1 or 2 JobCorps in every state, and this is just one of them. Its not a very wide picture, but its an inside look at funding cuts in the united states because of money spent on the war and on side projects for the Bush Administrations Military Campaign. Inflation, Unemployment, Poverty, are all outcomes of a failed government. So when your prices are to high or you cant get the good or service you want, you know who to blame.
