I have an old macbook pro, and i was wondering if there is a way to somehow network it with my iMac to share RAM, hard drive space, and possibly processor (probably not on that one). My imac is loaded with RAM, and my macbook has barely enough to run. can i share RAM between these computers, or is it too inefficient and I should just get an *expensive* upgrade.

As long as both are on at the same time, and both are connected to the same network, they should be able to share hard drives space, as in you could access one hard drive from the other computer. I don't think you could share RAM or the processor power, but I'm not sure.

If it was a PC, RAM isn't expensive....:D

You can share drives over a network, but processors and ram over a network is difficult and pointless to do due to the slow speed of a network.

that makes sense. processing power over a network is impossible, its like teaching a monkey quantum physics. the brain can't handle it, so its pointless.
i'll see about HD space. i need space anyway.

what about saving RAM to the hard disk? is there a practical way to do that?
i am a fan of Apple, but i admit my laptop sucks. im short of everything.

You're looking for the Mac equivalent of Virtual Memory.

Mac RAM is cheat as well...

Crucial. (http://www.crucial.com/mac/index.aspx) They even have a program that determines exactly what kind of RAM you need. I got 4GB of RAM for $50. It might be a little pricey, but its well worth it.
