i really want a job on vt so i can help out more with the running of the site and also to help people more and i know that i can help people with out having a job but still it would be cool because im not sure about other people but i look up to the people with jobs and are on the vt staff and i have massive respect for them because they do a brilliant job and i love this site
so is there anything that i can do that can make me a better candidate for a job or anything that i can do that will help the running of vt easier?
thanks
Elliot

To answer your question, have a look at this rule (quoted from the 'other guidelines' section of the VT rules):
Do not ask to be a staff member. Asking does not improve your chances of becoming one. Staff members are chosen by behavior, demonstrated maturity and trustworthiness, and knowledge pertaning to a particular forum and its subject. Openings may be posted, or an administrator may privately seek a potential candidate.
Don't ask to become a staff member; just continue to post in a good manner, don't spam and try to be helpful where you need to be. If the staff members believe that you would be a good candidate for a certain job position, they may ask you. Also, from time to time VT jobs will be posted in the 'VT Volunteer Jobs Openings (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34)' forum so keep an eye out in there for any new positions that are posted.

As far as I know, every applicant is considered, all applications are read.
I'm sure that a lot of people apply for the VT job openings so don't feel bad if you aren't successful. Just try again for the next job that pops up. Patience is a virtue.

Just be good and be an integral part of the site.
Give a good non-n00b impression...well usually........................................and usually if you show growth on the site, you will be hired sooner or later.

:P thanks
lol, doesnt hurt to know people too. ;)
no. i am not saying that there is a spoils system on this site.
i am meerly saying that if you know people more personally they will learn more about you and your character in comparison to just posting posts and that may help you get a job.

Harhar. Add people on MSN and get involved in the Skype chats if you want to get to know people. Lots of people talk outside of VT too, remember.
Discussing becoming a moderator, or asking decreases your chances... as I have found out off-site. Just relax and answer posts and don't worry about the whole moderator shizzle.

Getting a load of 0-posters to add you to your friends list isn't going to give you a moderator spot, I'm afraid. You added them.

Even so, asking will never ever get you it.
All aplications are read, as I understand, it was just when they read yours, they found someone else who was better qualified for the job.
Being popular should have NOTHING to do with it frankly, I'm not gonna start suggesting anything about how the heirachy works, but it shouldn't.
Getting people to know you however is a good idea, as that way they can see what your like and therefore be able to judge you better for a job.
Just post and be a good little boy. Behave, don't spam, don't act 'nooby' etc.

if everyone who applied to being a mod got a job
vt would be run by noobs
jsut cos you apply alot doesnt mean youll get the job
you might have a crap application
or you might not suit the criteria for the job
applying is only really one of the steps to becoming a moderator because without the rest of the skills that the admins are looking for your not going to be able to do the job youve been hired for

First, please don't write in run-on sentences. If you actually become a staff member, it would make you sound very unofficial.
Two, quit talking about it. If you talk about it all the time and then get it, well that's just a conflict of interest. Plus, it gets your hopes up, and then your hopes crash once you don't get it. Also, I found it decreases your chances if you focus on it or talk about it too much.
Three, apply for all jobs.
Four, try to be helpful on the forums.
Five, befriend people, especially older members. Being active in the community = higher chance of becoming a staff member.
Six, realize this is really just a site and you should find a social life outside of this because real life is SOOO much better.
Seven, report posts appropriately.
Eight, wait. This is gonna take awhile.
Nine, get a real job. Those ones pay way more than on here.
Ten, give QUALITY posts, not poorly written ones. Makes you look sorta dumb, sorry.

And Eleven, DONT SUCK UP TO PEOPLE in an attempt to make them feel bad for you. Sucking up to someone just shows you have no confidence in yourself and thats something you need to have if you want to be a staff member.

That's called spam. If you do that, you won't have a chance at getting a job.

i hate that friends feature
its myspace wannabe bullshit
the fact that you need that many people is weak
it means your just trying to show off
I wonder why you want to be on the staff
Just so you know
Staff positions are rarely given to those who ask for it
If you want it and are making entire threads asking then its because you want power and prestige which isn't what VT's about
which is why as a rule of thumb its given to those who've never asked for it
Being a staff member isn't all fun and games
On a site like VT
shit rolls uphill
the higher up you are in ranking
the shittier it is
