Do you want tattoos?: of course

If so, what?: A Celtic Cross design, maybe a Maori tribal, but definitely the name "Jack".

Where?: The Celtic cross would go on my right calf, I guess the tribal would go on my left bicep (not my face, that's too hardcore for me), and Jack would be on the inside of my right wrist.

What significance does this have?: the cross would just represent my beliefs and my heritage, the tribal would just look awesome, and Jack is my best friend's name.

I found this lovely design of these gothic flowers but was too chicken to have one done as my nan would have killed me so I had it done in henna, lasted aaaaages and looked really good :) but looked shitty when it started to fade :(

In a sick way I want flames sort of curling from my hip up my side, to remember my sister who died in a fire, was thinking about this yesterday randomly :S also thought it would look rather cool :) Maybe blue flames? but that colour goes weird when u get old lolol >.<

I've always wondered, why do people get their names tattooed on themselves? Do they think they might forget it? Why not just get a T-shirt airbrushed if you want every random stranger you pass to know your name so badly?

If so, what?: One of my friends drew up this really pretty butterfly whose wings are made of celtic knots for me and pink and purple colors. It's awesome.

Where?: Not sure yet. Thinking maybe my hip or the middle of my back.

What significance does this have?: It would be a memorial tattoo for my sister Kaley. I miss her so much, and I think it would be a beautiful tribute. She loved butterflies. Her whole bedroom was butterflies, and she always wanted to go to the butterfly gardens.And the celtic knot is the eternity knot, both for my family's heritage and as a way of saying I'll love Kaley forever, and she'll be with me for eternity.

Most people carry ID's, and I'm pretty sure most people who get tattoos DON'T get them for police to identify them just in case they die in the street.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you're going to get a tattoo, why not get something more creative than your name? It just doesn't make sense to me. The only reasons I can think of for anyone to get their name tattooed is if they can't think of anything better to get, they have some sort of chronic amnesia and forget their name often, or if they're just really conceitedly proud of their name.

I'm interested in getting a tattoo or two, probably on my shoulder or shoulder blade area. I would want it to be a meaningful design, not something that looks cool or tattooing my name onto myself (I don't see why people like to do this). I'm not entirely sure how I want all of it to look but it'd be a combination of some celtic or tribal designs along with the name of my dead dog and possibly a cross with it. That, or a tattoo of a wolf howling up at the sky surrounded with the fancy designs. As for the other tattoo (if I decide for another), it'd also be on the shoulder or shoulder blade area and would also be a very intricate detailed design, possibly similar to the first one but if I don't have any meaningful reason to get it then I'm not going to bother.

If so, what?: I'm working on a "tribal" design which would be along my left-hand side of my ribs and down towards my hip, but that would take a LOT of thought before I'd go through with it. It would be such a big piece, I'd have to really think about it.
I've also considered a small yin-yang or "eye of the dragon" (leaning towards that one, personally) behind one ear, and I plan to get something small written on my spine, going down from the nape of my neck. It'd be a few inches long. Christy knows what I want it to say, no one else really needs to.

What significance does this have?: The one on my ankle represents my closest friends and loved ones. It's styled like a charm bracelet, with two charms so far. One is a knotwork heart representing undying love, and the other is a butterfly in memory of my sister. I plan to add charms for each of my parents, my best friend, and for Christy.
The tribal design is less "meaningful", and has more to do with accentuating body shape and having the design be something that really flows with the rest of my body. More of a cosmetic thing than anything else, which is part of why I'd have to think long and hard about whether I'd want to make it permanent.
The eye of the dragon is a triangular shape which represents a balance between power, wisdom and love. Drawn with the point facing down, as I would intend to have it, is used to invoke power rather to send it forth, and would be a reminder of my faith as well as a sort of talisman. Every time I see it, I'd be reminded of what it means to me, and would remember to keep balance in my life.
The writing on my spine is between Christy and I.
