I dont know what to do really. I'm not angry or anything, but does anyone else have this problem? My mum smokes weed quite a bit, and I've even done it with her. By the way, she's almost 50. Is this wrong?

I don't think it's wrong. I can understand how it could be a little uncomfortable, and if it is you might want to say something about it. But honestly i think it's healthy and good for you guys, and as long as you are doing what you want to do then its all good.

I'm not aorried about her health, but like, I'm 13, and she's nearly 50. All my other friends think it's wierd (it doesn't bother me), and I guess it sort of is

Nothing wrong with it at all. Your mother is old enough, and has been for many years, to make her own decisions.
However, depending on how old (and mentally mature you are), im not sure if its ok for your mother to encourage you to smoke marijuana with her, although i can see how it would be nice and a good bonding experiance.
How old are you?
Oh and don't worry about Cosmos, he doesn't give advice, he just rants.

Cosmos is fun. He makes topics more....interesting. I'm 13. My mother doesn't exactly encourage my to smoke pot, she just, has done it with me when she was drunk. She's always either drunk, high, or both on the weekends.

wELL, OF COURSE ITS WRONG BECAUSE ITS ILLEGAL. I WOULD TRY TO GET YOUR MOM SOME HELP!
Just because something is illegal does not make it wrong. Gay marriage used to be illegal, is that wrong?
As far as im concerned, there is no victim with drug use, you are doing it to yourself, putting something in your body. So it shouldn't be a crime, as you do not damage society.

Well, its your mothers choice to live the life she wants to live. "Drugs are bad, Don't do them because they are illegal" - is hardly advice, it doesn't help the situation.
"Drugs are illegal, talking about them isn't" - That's more like it.

And it's the persons fault that they take drugs/alcohol and get behind the wheel.
"Because i was high" is no excuse for crime.
Also the vast majority of crimes are commited by sober people. Those that are commited by people under hte influence of something, are usually people under the influence of alcohol, a legal substance.
I did not lie, the only victim in drug abuse is yourself.

I never said drugs aren't bad for you, your twisting my words.
My general stance, and get this straight. Is that teenagers DO DRUGS, it's a fact. Atleast the majority of teenagers dabble in an intoxicating substance, legal or illegal. Somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of teenagers have smoked cannabis.
Now with all the government shock tactics and anti drugs informaiton, you'd think those numbers would be alot lower.
Peeople who do drugs should talk about it, both good and bad aspects of drugs. If you think saying "Dont do drugs" is the only advice someone can give on this issue, your wrong. That doesn't stop anyone doing drugs, because people are curious by nature.
I support drug legalisation, not because i think it would be easier to get hold of drugs, but because it would make drugs controlled by the government. Instead of wasting time on stopping the drugs flow (which you cant) they can work on the crime. People who do drugs will do them with or without the law, and the majority aren't addicted helpless or ignorant, they just want to have fun without being arrested.
Id be willing to tell a heroin addict how to inject himself, and what IV to use? Why - because the risks of someone hurting themselves in that situation are high, and if your addicted to heroin you will do it, regardless of how much they tell you not to.
So it's better to be safe than sorry.
Let me tell you a true story, this was in the news i can get the article if you want. A girl named Leah Bhetts took ecstacy on her birthday, she was a normal girl from a normal background, and did a normal thing, dabble in drugs.
She was home alone by the time the drug effects took place. Previously she had read alot about it on the news, and knew that if you dont drink enough water you can die of dehydration. So she drank 6 pints in an hour, what she didn't know what E can make you stop produce urine.
The water got to her brain, and she died of a brain haemorrage.
Would it be wrong for me to tell her "Dont drink too much water but still keep hydrated"? No, the government didn't tell her that, and now the governments stance on drug abuse is about facts not scare tactics and fiction ie Drugs put holes in your brain.
If someone has access to drugs, is curious and is looking on the internet for advise about them, they would have alrealdy most likely made the decision to do drugs in the first place.
I give people the facts about drug use, and i leave people to draw their own conclusions. It's upto you to make your own opinion, and i wont force any biased anti or pro drug information on people.
Unlike you, im giving advise. I don't sit here and critisize you for every thing you say that i don't agree with. Now stop trolling me.

you dont just give out straight facts though, your facts are all leaning towards the use of drugs, and not the prevention of it

Prevention? Half of teenagers use drugs, there is no prevention there. You are the one only leading towards drug prevention and why they are bad.
Teenagers aren't stupid, they recognise full well that alot of the myths about drugs are fabricated and biased. Im not saying there is nothing bad at all about drugs, they can ruin some peoples lives, but only people that needed help to begin with.
Substance abuse is a disorder, it's genetic. People are born with addictive personalities, and if they are addicted to drugs, there is no such thing as prevention in that case, they need advise on 'detoxification' and 'safe use'.
Is it wrong for me to tell drug users not to drive while under the influence of drugs? I know full well that people take drugs, and there is nothing wrong with me saying that. However if i say "dont do drugs at all" it's not specific. People should know about dangerous situations in which drugs can be extremly risky, and i should be specific about it. Not "Drugs are bad, heres why - they kill you!"
People want hte straight facts and i've provided two websites, one is a government webiste.
www.frank.co.uk - And as for you saying that is not any more reliable than NIDA, it is infact more comprehensive, it gives advise on how to stop and recognises that people take drugs, and so they should see both side of the story.
If anything people hate one sided information. They want the truth and nothing but the truth.

It's not weird as long as she is responsible, and isn't so high all the time where she can't function right, but if she smokes weed on occasion, who cares it's her decision. I don't think it's responsible that she lets you smoke with her.
I did not realize this was from 2005....sorry
