I want to get really fit. I get jealous when I see others with a 6-pack, so I was wondering does lifting weight, push ups, sits up stunt my growth?

Thanks

No, it won't stunt your growth. Also, Puberty For Boys :arrow2: Sports and Fitness

It won't stunt your growth, but lifting weights and working out tears muscle fibers which become stiff when they first grow back so it does make you a bit less flexible.

It doesn't stunt your growth at all! It is really healthy to be exercising during your teen years. You actually have an easier time gaining more muscle mass when you are going through puberty.

I might just add, that being fit doesnt really mean that you have a 6-pack and are really muscular. It is more than being able to run a long distance or lift a lot of weight at the gym. Being fit is not defined only by what kind of activity you do, how long you do it, or at what level of intensity. To be fit is to have Cardiorespiratory endurance, Muscular strength, Muscular endurance, Lean Body composition, and to be flexible.

Also, it is better to be head strong instead of being physically gifted. Those who may have six packs and a lot of muscle mass because of genetics may actually be less fit than one who may appear to be less fit because they lack the determination to improve their fitness level. As long as you have determinatiom, you will easily reach your goal and become more fit than those who are physically gifted. Determination is all you need to achieve any goal in life.

Hope this helps.

i've been lifting weights since i was 15 or so, now i'm around 215lbs, with around 11-12% bodyfat, knowledge is power, it's helped me a lot.

starting at your age is fine, but i'd say more bodyweight exercises, e.g. sit ups, push ups, for core strength and basic functional strength. then move onto some lighter weights for whole body training, or whatever your goal is. good luck, if you need some info getting started mate, i'm sure there's people that can help you. i'd like to be able to, don't be afraid to pm.

as the saying goes, 6packs are made in the kitchen.
No matter how much ab work you do, if you have a layer of fat over you abs, you will never see them. You need to be cutting down to around 12% body fat to clearley begin seeeing abs, And 6packs arent a magical thing, everyone has one. You just need to be toned enough to see it.
