I can pretty much see us using it as a power source in the next 10-15 years or even sooner. It's a cleaner and safer energy source and it's so heavily regulated that you get more radioactive waves from your microwave than you do standing next to a power plant. What is your opinion on the matter?

as long as theirs co-operation for a long term permanent fuel rod disposal site like deep under a mountain something that can remained sealed for thousands of years have the power to run it come from whats left in the spent rods so when theres no more power they arent hot enough an therefor no longer a danger that way its not dependant on an external power supply then ya i'm all for it
we have the technology to make it work
were just to cheap to deal with the left overs

Nuclear power is cheap and efficient. I could see it becoming a major source of energy in the near future. As long as I'm not living by a power plant, I would love to see nuclear power be used.

The problem with nuclear power as a main energy source is that there are only so many things we can do with the waste.
Any method of disposal which exposes humans, animals and vegetation to risk would be unacceptable. However, the other methods of disposal are not limitless.
It would be a good interim power source which eventually gives way to cleaner, renewable energy sources. But no more than that.

Blast it into space lawl
if it doesn't explode going up
and if we could cut the costs down
just set a collision trajectory for the sun
ya i know
not very viable
funny though

I think nuclear power is quite good, however, the issue is how to dispose of the waste properly. We cant use methods that work for other waste, such as put it in a landfill, we need to either bury it so deep somewhere that it is not going to have an affect of the organisms in that area. Hopefully science can lead us to a way of disposing it safely and effectively.
