The youth of today is looked down upon
Just like all that stood there just before them
Not taken seriously by their superiors
Looking for a source of reform.

We cut and we bleed
And we feel and we read
Yet a sense of doubt lingers past the smoke in the air…
As we stare up past the stars
And our astrological twin slips out a grin
at us blind, grasping for our lost eyes on the ground.

we march a song of rebellion
though our fires will fade with old age
father time blows out our candle
and our previous ideals are sent out with the smoke.

out morals stomp out into the dirt
like the butt of an old Marlboro
and maturity grows as our once so clear simplicities fade away
and we walk the same road as all the others
littered with a thousand cigarettes.

and the lions, they run along this trail
with long ribbons of silk and velvet
clasped in their jaws, and tailing behind them
paving the way for new morals and beliefs
new personalities and a new set of tongues.

but still,
when we cut we will bleed
and we will feel when we read
the air will be clear
as we stare past the stars
and our mirrors in the sky will
look down at us, with pride in his eyes.
