Is it required to wear jock straps for sports (Protected) not just for support. Or even compressions shorts?

What sports do you think you should wear them?

I don't really think they are necessary. Briefs do the job.

It depends on the sport, but some of them like baseball and football, yes, I think it should be required. You never know if someone will sue. Plus it just make me feel more protected.

OK, once again we may have an international terminology thing here.

As far as my understanding goes, a jock strap is just a cloth thing that holds your dick & balls in place. As YourFriend has said a comfortable pair of briefs whould do that just as well.

I have absolutely no idea what compression shorts are.

Within the uk definition of a jock strap it offers no protection at all. A jock strap is an athletic support, not an athletic protector.

I don't think it is nor it should be required to wear jock straps. Now it's a different story when it comes to the cups ...

It's not required, although it may hurt if you don't.

I used to wear compression shorts for football. I now use them for when I umpire. They hold a cup in place plus they give great support for thighs.

For the one where it just holds all your junk in place, perhaps for baseball, football (american and possibly European) and maybe certain martial arts. For the ones that protect, as much as I'd like to say for martial arts, I rarely have worn one for martial arts. If I get kicked there, then so be it. But it also depends on which martial arts you're considering. For MMA, I think it would be good and for martial arts where you deal with weapons.
