in May, my dad made a rule that i can't be on the computer after 12. i find this excruciatingly unfair because i feel i have a right to do what i want with my summer, and he isn't being constructive at all by doing this. he doesn't want to "isolate" me even if its pouring rain for 2 weeks straight. he would rather i watch tv or something "less isolating" like that.
One huge problem i have with this is the release of the Sims 3. I have waited 2 years for it, since i first heard about it, and now hes just throwing all that away for "mental and physical health"

I'll tell you, the sims 1 and 2 have had incredible impact on my personality and interests. It got me into architecture. Design. Computers. i wouldn't be who i am today without it. That's an understatement.

He has no idea what i do with a computer anyway. Computer is a noun, and he treats it like a verb. "Using the computer" could mean anything! it could mean programming dashboard widgets, or it could mean watching porn! I am much more social than he thinks, and i am persuing a life in computers.

He won't hear it when i bring this up, so what can i do to talk with him about this without setting him off like a bomb?

My advice would be: don't bother! He says no computer after noon... start going to bed at 7 pm and waking up at 4am to 'use the computer' ;)

You'll get the same comp time as you would staying up late. :P

Dude, I have to be in bed asleep at 11 during summer and at 10 during school year. Its seriously not that bad.

The easiest thing to do is just get up earlier and use it. And my parents understand computers nearly less than that haha :D

well, your parents make the rules, you should follow them because if you don't he may take your computer away for ever... trust me.. it happened to me and it's no fun...
i have to turn off the computer at 9, and cant talk for phone after 8... it sucks..

Trust me, he has a good reason. My brother (this is true, don't say it's not, personal experience) has ruined his life just by staying up late on the computer.

Big deal. Everybody has had restrictions put on them for things. Deal with it, and quit crying. It will only get worse if you argue.

I suggest you go by his rules for a few weeks then ask for an hour or two later.

If he says no to that just calmly say, "I understand, if I carry on abiding by the rules though if there a chance I can get longer time on the computer"

Good luck and I hope this helps.

he is really hot-headed! i can't just ask for more.
but it ticks me off that he just did it! it seems like he doesn't care what i DO with my time, only what im NOT doing!

Whilst you're living under his house, go by his rules :)

Like others have said, just wake up slightly earlier if you really need to. You're dad is helping you. This could, in the long-run, improve you're eye-site. :)

Ya I can be on any electronics after 9:30 pm. So stop bitchin'! ;) Appreciate what you've got!

Althought I can relate to your anger and sadness.
