I've seen that sometimes, there's an issue with double posting whether this is deliberate or accidental (I've done it sometimes wihtout meaning to). Since you're not supposed to double-post (I've seen complaints about people double posting), why can't the forum be updated to prevent people from being even able to double post at all? This way, people will be forced to use the edit tool unless someone has posted afterwards.

I think that's a good idea.

There's a hack that can be installed for it but the only problem is that sometimes there are legitimate reasons for needing to double/triple post.

True. There are some instances when bumping is allowed.
After a couple days, if your thread as fell to the second page, then you can legitimately bump and not "get in trouble"

Does vB not have a option to allow bumping of topics without a new post?
If so, why not enable it?
Then disable double-posts. (Or, I'm fairly certian there's a mod out there that can do this, when someone goes to double post, it edits the last post, with their newly posted stuff (If that makes sense :p ))

Don't enable it because of posts 3 and 4

If you guys want an example of a thread that needs double posting look at the VT Photo Album Quick Reference.

Or my quick guide :D

There are many ways in which double posting is acceptable.

Also, i'd like to note that at one point (and i think it's still there) that there's a 30(45?) second delay between posting..

I assumed that we had that becuase it saves the server from going on the fritz. Also I think it slows down people who go on a spam/advertising frenzy. Mainly the server though I think. :)

If you are allowed to bump your own thread because it's fallen off the first page, why not update the forum so that it either allows double posting in that circumstance only or force peopl to wait 24 hours before being allowed to post again (assuming no-one posts in that time)? That should give an appropiate amount of time before bumping should be neccassary and should prevent accidental double posting and double/triple posting (and so on) when people quote multiple people (which should be kept as a single post). Or just go with my first idea of allowing bumping (and double posting) your own thread if it is not on the first page.

It really isn't a big problem. If you see a double post then all you do is report it.

Exactly we'll decide if it should stay or go.

Also there is a feature that disallows you to post the same post within 5 minutes which reduces the accidental, connection double posts.

So basically all double posts are on purpose and people either know or don't know the rule.

I'm not sure. I know it works for me all the time :P

Because it sends it at the same time twice.
