ok i need an opinion
my friend has told me that he can hear voices, sex noises, ringing, vibrating and other stuff in the one ear.
he said it started in the past week and isnt constant, it mostly happens when he has music on and i got him to cover his ear to see if it went away and he said it goes louder..
hes been through alot this week with lack of sleep and stress
and he had an operation on his ears when he was younger..
i told him to get more sleep and go to a doctor if it gets worse..
am i doing the right thing, is there more i should be doing to help him?
im confused lol :S
thanks if you reply (L) =D

Sounds like stress to me. Tell him to get a good nights sleep and allow short breaks a lot

The ringing after playing some music, especially loud music is normal. If he's playing the song back over in his head then that's also normal.
The surgery when he was younger may have something to do with it, however, it depends exactly how long ago it was. If it was, say, 10 years ago, then I have my doubts that it'd suddenly be causing this with no other signs beforehand.
The lack of sleep and stress certainly can be a cause or simply amplifying whatever the cause is. Either way, tell him to get more sleep and try to be calmer. After a few nights of good, solid rest (perhaps a week if need be), then hopefully the sounds are gone. The ringing after music probably still will happen if the music is loud enough.

i thought about loud music also , i asked this at the point and aparently it wasnt that loud
for how long ago the surgery was would be probably 4 years minimum ; although it still gives him problems
i spoke to him about more sleep and hes agreed to try , hopefully he will be calmer anyway as his problems at the moment are beginning to solve ..
when i get more information il post a reply
thanks , both of you =D(L).

He is Hallucinating Through His Ears!
He is.
They're called 'Auditory Hallucinations'.
I've been getting them lately also, from my recent lack of sleep.

This isn't medical, it's mental.
If he's overstressed and not sleeping, it could be causing things like that. But if it doesn't go away your friend needs to talk to a doctor or a councler. Auditory hallucinations that don't go away after a stressor is gone can get bad ,and sometimes dangerous.

Sounds like hes pulling your leg.
Sex noises, thats a figment of his imagination :P The voices...I don't think hes schizo. so the only voices he hear are the ones in his mind that he makes up.
Ringing and vibrating can happen. This may be from an ear infection, or like if he went to a loud event, umm...or something else wrong with the ears. In that case he should go to the ENT doctor and get it checked out.
