A rodent-eating snake and a hamster have developed an unusual bond at a zoo in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
Their relationship began in October last year, when zookeepers presented the hamster to the snake as a meal.
The rat snake, however, refused to eat the rodent. The two now share a cage, and the hamster sometimes falls asleep sitting on top of his natural foe.

I love those odd animal friendships. I've seen a dog with a moose. Or was it a hippo with a moose? No, wait it was a cow and a moose.

that's bullshit
they're reading way to much into it
trying to find humanistic qualities in the situation
a snakes thought process is NOTHING like a humans or a mammals period for that matter
it isnt his friend
at most
* he's playing with his food
*he's under stress and as such isn't eating at all which would explain why he never touched the frozen mice either
*or like the already dead ones he has deemed there to be something wrong with it
They are not "friends"
thats the zoo trying to garnish publicity
